Default Custom made power steering hose source
Anyone have a source for custom made power steering hoses ?? I'm looking for a shop that can bend tube and attach the hose to that tube like OEM.

where are you located? there's quite a few shops locals to me in portland that do this sort of stuff.

Check your yellow pages. I had a the orginal c5 and 70 Camaro splice together at a local hydrualic hose shop. Most cities will have these for factories of farming communities.

Any industrial hose place could do something....ie to repair machinery etc. Should be quite common all over any country.

Guys I have been to too many shops locally. All a waste of time. Either they don't want to be bothered or just make what they are used too. I even went to a "Premier" hose fab shop 30 miles away, they told me they can't reproduce the flare needed for the o-ring at the end of the tube. I think these shops are a dying breed.

Exactly what is it you need ? You may need to use some OEM parts or fab parts.

lots of OEM fittings are not generic stuff, and no flare is ever going to be intended for an o-ring fitting.

So it may require some adaptation with the actual factory parts which you would need to have.

Thats why I used the metal flares from use hose (70 Camaro and c5 PS hoses) and they just recrimped a new hose to the C5 PS fitting to the 70 Camro steering box. Its was a 2.5 turns lock to lock. Not sure what it caME FROM. Holley has a new fitting that stands off the hose like OEM does.

yeah Jimbo, I even mocked up some steel tubing with the vette fitting(removed from new hose purchase) and sent it to a place in Vancouver Washington (Tubes and Hose) 5 weeks later and nothing. Sooo, It cost me a hose from Rock Auto and shipping. IDK 40 bucks.

I said Flare yes, I actually meant "Steel O-Ring Tube Bead". I was trying to keep it simple LOL.

When I adapted a v-belt ps pump off a 71 c-10 to run the rack on my 95z hacked up the lines from the v belt pump and the rack. Had my hydraulic place braze a fitting onto the end of the metal line I cut where I needed it. Then that went into the pump, and uses the line from the rack, cut the rubber and crimped a fitting on to connect the two. Cost 10 bucks. I'll see if I can dig up a picture or two .

Thanks everyone for the replies. I decided to just use a hose for the pressure side instead of hose/tube. Orme Brothers took care of everything. Great shop to deal with.
