Thumbs up Floor Jack

Just picked up a new very light weight race floor jack from Harbour Freight (link below). All I had before was a cheap on from sears(with the removable handle) which was nearly half the price of this one so its a step up for me. After i pulled it out of the box i was stunned, anodized blue and the rest was raw aluminum... . The best part of all is that i didn't have to run the front wheels up on boards and then start lifting, which alsways had to do previously. My z rides on the Eibach pro-kit in the rear and coil overs up front, which I had set slightly lower than the stance of the pro-kit so it works on lowered vehicles too...in case anywho ask . Someone else on the site mentioned and I would like to thank them for that.

Check it out:

Post back in 12 months when it begins slipping or a weld breaks. They're cheap for a reason.

I bought a craftsman $99 floor jack and it's awesome. It's great for low clearance and it's got a quick lift to it. Highly recommended.

I had gone through 3 of those "cheap" jacks. And when one fails, it's never a good thing ...

I finally decided to buy a REAL jack and bought one of these ...

http://www.asedeals.com/hydraulicjacks2.html

DK13HLQ is an awesome jack, able to lift up to 38" high and only needing 3" of clearance. 6 yers later and it's still working like new ...

I did buy one of those HF lightweight jbs for use at the track. But for everyday shop use ... a good jack pays big dividends ...

i was going to buy one of those... they are just too expensive. The craftsmutt works fine for me. Good warranty too.

I bought an aluminum jack from Homier (traveling tool sale) for $100. It's the same one Speedway Motors sells for $160. I've had it for about a year and a half, and it works pretty good. The saddle keeps breaking every time I get a load off center though. Not something I trust if I have to crawl under something. I really need a set of stands.

ALWAYS use stands if you are under the vehicle. Never trust your life to a simple jack alone. If the hydraulics fail, or a bolt comes loose, or a weld breaks, you could get killed.

Just a reminder

FWIW, a friend of mine who was an airline captain for National Airlines was working under a car he was restoring and the jack collapsed, no jackstands, his spinal cord was severed. He has been in a wheel chair for the last 35 years, since 1970. NEVER get under a car without jackstands.

I have one of the aluminum harbor freight jacks also. It's a decent jack for the price. I also have a 3 1/2 ton michelin jack from sam's club ($59) that is well worth the money.

And nobody should ever get under a car with only a jack holding it up. If I have a big job to do I'll put it on jack stands and keep jacks under it just in case, and sometimes ramps under the tires as well.
