Well I learned my lesson on shitty jacks. Autozone 5000-lb. jack. Bought it last Friday, tried to lift my truck to check the front brake pads and I had the truck in the air, and was walking to the pass. side to slide a jack stand under the frame and it twisted and dropped the truck.

Well my sears jack just crapped out on me today. Funny since it was working for me 2 days ago when I used it. Got it last christmas and really didnt use it that much. Now its time to buy a good jack i guess. I hate craftsman!

My aluminum craftsman jack took a dump too, I found it had puked all its oil out on the garage floor... It still raises the car enough to get jack stands under it but $160 for six months of limited use and no warranty I wish I'd seen this thread first...
My Craftsman air tools and hand tools are great though.

What about four bumper jacks stationed at each of the four corners of the car? You can also use cinder blocks or milk crates too.

You get what you pay for in tools like this. Unfortunately what's someone supposed to do when you don't have a ton of money to begin with. You buy something like a cheap jack and the damned thing breaks two days out of the box.
You'd think there'd be some sort of standard to adhere to so this doesn't happen. I've had several cheap jack stands that literally folded in half with light usage. Stay away from stuff at Sam's Club too!!!

my 4K pound aluminum craftsman blew out a seal a few days ago after 3 years or so. I ran across this thread after purchase and had been just waiting for it to happen as my jack sees a fair amount of use. Sure enough it happened.

i have 2 old craftsman jacks that have been though hell and back and are almost perfect but my neighbor has gone through 3 jacks in the last 10 years, so needless to say if i need a new jack its not going to be crafstman
