I've got one of the aluminum jacks from Sears.

Took a **** after a year. Had the seals changed and works like a champ now.

well, they're fixable. Just need to find a place that deals with hydraulics.

Well I learned my lesson on shitty jacks. Autozone 5000-lb. jack. Bought it last Friday, tried to lift my truck to check the front brake pads and I had the truck in the air, and was walking to the pass. side to slide a jack stand under the frame and it twisted and dropped the truck.

If that happened to me I'd be returning it to AutoZone throught their front window.

I bought a NAPA jack right after making this thread. We use the heck out of it and it works like a champ. It's heavy though.

My aluminum craftsman jack took a dump too, I found it had puked all its oil out on the garage floor... It still raises the car enough to get jack stands under it but $160 for six months of limited use and no warranty I wish I'd seen this thread first...

My Craftsman air tools and hand tools are great though.

What about four bumper jacks stationed at each of the four corners of the car? You can also use cinder blocks or milk crates too.

You get what you pay for in tools like this. Unfortunately what's someone supposed to do when you don't have a ton of money to begin with. You buy something like a cheap jack and the damned thing breaks two days out of the box.

You'd think there'd be some sort of standard to adhere to so this doesn't happen. I've had several cheap jack stands that literally folded in half with light usage. Stay away from stuff at Sam's Club too!!!

been using a harbor freight jack for 16 or 17 years now, other than loosing the spring that holds up the handle it has been flawless, no leaks....

my 4K pound aluminum craftsman blew out a seal a few days ago after 3 years or so. I ran across this thread after purchase and had been just waiting for it to happen as my jack sees a fair amount of use. Sure enough it happened.

Sucks to hear about that. my over all impression of sears is Sucks ***! I bought a washer/ dryer and they canceled my delivery 3 times. Needless to say hell was raised and I got a $3600 set for $2000 but I had to wait three weeks.
