I have a 2 year old aluminum one, zero issues. Didnt come low on oil, and I have left it with weight on it for well over 7 days way too many times.

Going on 3 years. My roomate took his Sears jack home and we all just use mine because everyone likes it better then the sears 3 1/2 ton jack. I've had it holding cars up for WEEKS without them dropping an inch. If it fails, its only 40 more to replace it

Had my Walmart jack for 3 years now and works as great as the day I bought it. 3 ton Blackjack I think is the name.

Anyway when you buy a floor jack just look at it first. IS it sturdy? Can you rock it back and forth while it's raised and see the struts and linkage have a lot of play in them? How is the construction? IS is rivited together or welded or bolted with cheap looking hardware? I paid $70 and have never had a complaint.

Common sense will go a long way here. My jack is not made of aluminum. Its steel and steel doesn wear out too often. Does what you buying look like a professional floor jack you'd find in a mechanics garage?

My Craftsman 3 1/2 steel jack broke as well. Would pump up until it made contact and then wouldn't go any further. Only used that jack maybe 20 times before it took a dump. I was a little disappointed to say the least .

I was right in the middle of taking my car off the jackstands when it happened. Went to Pep Boys and picked up a Torin steel suv jack. Worked great for around
10 times but then would pump up but not lock in place.

I was a little bent so I picked it up over my head and spiked it into the street . Just for the hell of it I checked to see if it worked. What do ya know, back in business . It's been good now for around a year without issue.

Still have the craftsman in the shed. I'm going to try the "fix" on it one day.

My aluminum crapsman jack is so shity I've stopped using to lift my car. It makes creaking noises and loses pressure randomly. In my opinion its an un safe piece of **** that shouldn't be sold to the public. I feel sorry for the guy who loses his legs or his life under their POS jack! And isn't it fun telling the person who bought you the jack as a present that you never use it because its a big piece of ****!

Mine crapped out as well I went with a harbour friegth aluminum one. The HF one is alot lighter too...

I still keep it around because it half works but sucks on lifting a car but was handy to have 2 jacks to position a fuel tank in a truck with.

Anyone have any tips on fixing it, I might give it a try.

+1 I'm using one that my dad got when he was just out of college. Still works like a champ with zero problems.

I have both a Sears Steel jack as well as a US General Racing Jack.

The Sears is quick to go up to the surface you want to lift, but once you start lifting its slow as all hell.

The US General is very fast and very light, the only downside is that it requires a lot more effort to lift a car than the Sears does.

Ive had one of the sears SUV jacks for about 6 years now. It has served me well. Been used and abused. On the contrary, we have 2 of those and one of the aluminum sears at the shop. 1 of each is low on fluid and not working. Just filled the aluminum about 8 monts ago, but in sears defense. it gets used a LOT.

If you want to fork out for a kick *** jack. Cornwell Blue Monster. One of the best jacks Ive owned.

Sorry to hear it.. I bought my 3.5 ton Craftsman "professional" jack in 1997, and though it's squeeked from day 1, it still works perfectly every time, and I use it often, which includes lifting the front of my 8000lb Dodge Cummins...

it weights 80.3 pounds and the handle can be put together like in the pics above to make it longer and they can be taken apart to make a shorter handle.
