For a garage mechanic I would say a Craftsman with ball bearing will work great. It may not be as durable as a Snap-On or Matco but I only use it on the weekends. And I would rather spend the money I didnt spend on the box on modding my cars. Id rather have a shitty box and a fast car than a nice box and a slow car.

nobody has mentioned cornwell. i have a roll cart made by them and a regular box by snap-on. just between my cornwell rollcart(this one: http://www.cornwelltools.com/OnlineC...lproserie.html ), and my snap-on box(this one: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog ), I can tell a difference in build quality. i truely believe my snap-on box will outlast my cornwell one.

I have a Craftsman Pro...I bought it because its just for home. I got a sweet deal and payed around $480 for the $750 setup they had. Its the narrower roller bearing box with the 6 drawer top piece with the closing/locking lid.
Its ok, and honestly if it was bigger I'd stick with it because its good enough for me but its too small for all my air tools and that.
I've done alot of research and I don't need to spend 2K.
I've looked at this box over and over. Its well built, great sliders, I've hung on the drawers and they open/close smoothly, it comes with padding, etc...
It might not be as nice as the Snap On/other high end brands, but it is slightly superior to my Craftsman which has worked well enough for me:

I looked at it and the side cabinet, on sale its around $700.
I know its a HB unit but go check it out in person. No your not going to tap the drawer and have it shut but it feels like superior construction to the Craftsman Pro, its heavier duty, the wrinkle finish is nice and for the insane amount of storage its a steal.
Saving 1-2k in a box leaves you more to spend on the car

I Love my matco box. snap on and mac box owners cringe when he see me sitting of standing on a single roller drawer, they dont even flex a lil bit try that on a snap on.
Also snap ons drawer locks i cant stand them even craftsmans setup is more tolerable.
