Best Tool to take of side post battery?

i have a side post battery i have never known what tool to use? This may be a dumb question so delete thread if needed.Devin

its 5/16". i use a ratcheting box end wrench, but you could also use a socket.

5/16 or 8mm and it should not get rounded off

If you have a square head on your post instead of a hex you can also use a refrigeration wrench. Its like a ratcheting box end but for square heads as opposed to hex.

*I threw that information out there because I have seen batteries with square post heads*

craftsman actually makes a wratchet wrench for it for like $5. I use an 8mm or 5/16 gear wrench.

at the shop i used to work for we had a Bluepoint (cheap Snapon) wrench designed for the side post ... its about 10" long ratching box end and the handle is rubber coated from end to end it was a real nice tool to have especially since i tend to hit both terminals at the same time

Autozone sells a side post battery terminal wrench as well.

They are the **** when doing batteries, I use it all the time.

hey thanks i switched to these bat-lock things they work great and they come off with out a tool at all
