Default Camaro dash fabrication- anyone put in a dash for a race/drag car that isn't factory?

I am in the middle of pulling my dash out of my car because im gettin rid of the HVAC, but someone broke into it and stole my radio & busted up the " frame" of the dash inside so it will never hold a radio again. So i was thinking of putting in a sheetmetal dash or something.

I was wondering if anyone had ever fabed up a dash and if they had pictures of it?

Thanks alot!

.

I built the dash for my slow car ('70 1/2 RS) made a template out of sheetmetal, got it the way I wanted with the layout I wanted. Took to a metal fab shop and they made me one from 1/8 alum plate. Stilll been to lazy to get camera fixed, sorry no pics. Went slow and it wasn't that hard.

Fast car bought a carbon fiber replacement.

So u have at least 3 choices, stock, metal, fiberglass/carbon fiber.

Well the stock one is shot, and after getting it out found it weighs about 30lbs..

I found a good fiberglass one from VFN fiberglass so i may go that route.

Anyone else with pictures??

VFN is a good company, I have a set of their doors, turned out perfect, I would trust the dash, and probably a lot less than 30lbs.

Nice setup there man. Actually the VFN dash i have my eye on is a T/A dash so you gave me a couple ideas..

Can i ask you about how much you spent on the gauges in your actual cluster I.E.- speedo, tach, fuel level, water temp, etc???

thanks..

There's a thread like this in the drag racing section:

I just added it up its 594 just for the cluster gauges. 156 for the center gauges, and 154 for my A piller gauges, 904 total just for gauges its nuts.
