Craftsman torque wrenches?
I was thinking about buying a Craftsman Torque Wrench at the local Sears while it was on sale.
Product Overview:
Torque Wrench- Type Torque wrench
Item Weight- 1.7 lbs.
General Warranty- 90 days
Type of Item- Mechanics tools
Wrench:
Specialty Wrench Type- Torque
Torque Drive Size- 3/8 in.
Torque Increments- 1.0 in. lbs.
Torque Measure- 25 to 250 in. lbs.
It is currently on sale for $59.99, and I have neither a 1/2" or 3/8" wrench. Would this be enough for my use with a possible 408 in the future I might help build witha few others? Or should I get the 1/2" first.

I would say get a 1/2 inch first if you plan on doing a motor. They need to be used in the mid range say...30 to 225 on a 250 wrench eventually you should overlap the ranges of your wrenches...I have 4 Snap On torque wrenches inch pounds micrometer style, inch pounds turning,3/8 and 1/2 and I havent used any of them in a year or so.....but when you need them you need them kinda like a crows foot...As far as brand goes... look at it this way.. I wuldnt put a 10,000 dollar motor together with a 60 dollar torque wrench... but thats just me

Gotta say I'm not to pleased with the 1/2 inch craftman torque wrench I bought. After using it just a few times the numbers are coming off. Instead of being etched on the metal dial they are painted on plastic dial. Numbers just rubbing right off. Pay a little more and get a good one.

I just recently got a Snap on 1/2" wrench, but do you think the 3/8" like 75ftlb max is a good buy for $59.99? I would like to install headers and the such, or should I get the in/lb one instead?

This is what you need. I wouldn't use anything else.

I work at Sears and I see these come back all the time from the calibration being WAY off! Also the automotive section uses the Craftsman torque wrenches and they are always bringing them back to because I think they only have a 30 warranty? Either way they are always brought back under warranty.
