Default Biggest MIG for an 110 outlet?

I was wondering what the biggest MIG I could buy(amp rating) to use on a little 110v outlet? For welding up exhaust, etc? Where should I buy it, and who makes it?

Mine's a 105. Steve has a 130 Lincoln. I think that's as high as you can get off a 110.

If you dont mind me asking, but what does that 105, and that 130 run? Price wise?

How long can you use that 105, that you have? (operation time, before you let it cool down?)

I bought the 105 used. It's a CH Mig/Flux and I got it for $230 shipped off this board. I think the 130 Miller was just under $500 new.

I welded the entire exhaust on the Volvo without it overheating or clipping off. I also made my true duals with it. Another time we ran my duals out the back with it no problems at all.

The biggest one i could find (and afford) was the Hobart Handler 140. made in USA too... comes with a Miller gun! About $450 at TSC....

Hobart is owned by Miller, and all the internals are the same as the Miller units. I have had my handler for about 5 years, and have not has a single issue with mine. It does everything I ask of it, including building headers from scratch, and numerous frame modifications.

lincoln weldpac 3200 has 135 amp output on 110 . about $450. great welder. it will melt away 1/4 plate like it doesn't exist. for exhaust almost any cheapie wire gun will do. on exhaust i usually weld on B for hot welds or A for normal (ABCD is the amperage output settings) if i was doin exhaust only i would go to harbor frieght and buy a 80-100 amp unit on sale. lincoln is tried and true brand and as a welder thats important to me. thats why i spent the extra money. but for exhaust the cheapie is more then capable.

I have a weldmark 135+ as my 110volt welder and it works well. I "can" weld 1/4" with it although I would not recommend it for anything structural (although I have before). It took a couple passes and a true 20amp breaker (dropped off of my garage's subpanel). I just don't like the quality of the weld off of a 15amp, it feels like the machine is choked, no matter what amperage it is set at (that and my breakers go crazy).

Lincoln 135+. Has infinite heat and wire speed dials. Really great for lite materials, such as body panels, exh, etc.
I have it sitting on top of my Lincoln 250. They share the same tank. The 110V machine is so nice, I can't remember when I last used the bigger machine.

I use a Hobart 175, but it's wired for 220. It looks like it shares many parts with the 110 unit. Ive gone through a dozen big spools of wire with no problems in a shop environment. If the 110 is half as robust it will last an individual a lifetime.

Im starting to get into welding and i mostly want to use it for exhaust and maybe odd jobs around the house or whatever but what type of welder would you guys recommend for instance building a set of turbo headers and just welding exhaust piping together?

If you have a couple of open slots in your breaker box I would recommend just dropping a 220 plug right below it. It's not difficult at all to do and you'll be able to get a welder that will do more than you need. I got a Lincoln Weld Pak 175 HD off of ebay for like 450 and couldn't be happier. Welded minitubs in and a friend's six point.

I have a hobart handler 140... If i welded more i would buy a tig, but its so great to have a welder sitting out in the garage.

Id stay away from the flux, look up terrace, or a local welding supply, get yourself some argon/c02 and practice alot. Me and my buddy welded sheet metal, and misc pipe for 2 mo's before we started on our custom turbo kit.

I have the same set up, but I use the flux core stuff (the welds that I need have to be more functional than pretty... stuff on the mower, fabricating little fixtures, etc). How thick can you go in a single pass with you gas setup?
