Fix on 2 broken floor jacks
So pissed off Craftsman jack of 9 years goes up half way and leaked so basicly is worthless. Went bought another one Troin brand 2 months ago went to use it yesterday and half gallon of fluid came out on the ground. Why is this happening. What can I do there has got to be a way to fix this peice of crap. There are two holes on the back one says do not adjust and the other looks like a plug. Any ideas or do I have to waste another $150 for the next one to last 6 months.

If the fluid is on the floor, pulling plug & refilling is a waste of time. It's the same as an engine lift, the cylinder lost it's seal.
Pull apart & see if someone can match it locally or call them & see if they sell seals to the public. Good luck.

I've had a dead jack on the floor for a couple years now. Decided to try to fix it yesterday.
I could not get the cylinder apart. The top of the cylinder had a hex cap on it, so I would "assume" it would unscrew. No luck at all, it did not budge. Even mounted in a vice and beat upon with a sledge, no movement.
Looks like I now have a jack's worth of scrap metal. It was just a cheap AutoZone jack (but a large one).

i got a harbor freight aluminum jack on sale.. i like it alot. knock-off of craftsman jack, but better built, I think.. i took it all apart and loctited all the fasteners (stupid chinese have no idea what torque is) and i'm happy with it a few years later. if it breaks i'll buy another one and send the first back in that one's packaging.. then give my new one to a friend.

I quit buying Craftsman jacks, between the handle spring breaking or it leaking I decided to buy a Snap On Jack.
Well after paying thru the nose for one of these I found out that it's the same as the old Licoln jacks from years past. If you look up in the phone book under hydraulics you can find guys who sell fix and repair jacks. I bought a good jack Licoln jack from the guy here in AZ for less than half as much as the Snap on.

It seems that I need to buy a jack every 3-4 years or so. The Michelin jack I have now is leaking like a sieve. I have been filling it with trans fluid, but I was thinking of getting one of the Harbor Freight aluminum ones.
My garage must be dusty enough that I keep wiping out the seals.
