On my beaters I used to just do it by eye, sight
along the leading and trailing tire faces and crank
on the adjuster until it "points" at the rear tire
face. Good enough for 20Kmile tire life, for me.
But I have higher expectations for the Camaro's
handling.

I've used fishing line tied to two jackstands, one at the rear of the car, one at the front. Parallel up to the rear tire, then start working on the front adjusting the tie rods. Helps to put the front wheels on some thin metal plates that are sitting on a very thin layer of sand (helps the wheels turn). Or you can get toe adjustment plates for $100-$200 (ball bearings and an arrow for the angle).

I've thought about making some Toe-In Plates out of Lexan. And trying it that away.

Thanks.

Could get a couple of large Lazy Susan bearings
from Home Depot, pretty cheap.

On our formula SAE car I bolt a straight edge to the hubs and tie a string behind and forward of the axle centerline the same distance as the overall wheel radius. From there it is a few measurements and some simple math and you are able to adjust.

You can also measure from both inside lips of the rims and adjust the tierods, till you get the correct measurement you are looking for.

You want something very rigid esp. since your dealing with 1/16ths of an inch http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...id=152&catid=5

two boards and a tape measure. Toe is easy, caster/camber are the hard ones

Yea what he said, but if your hard up you could even use the treads themselves although you would ideally like something that would provide a rigid reading. But if you have to getterdone then just use a tape measure on the straightest treads possible.
