Angry Abusive Moderator

What do you suggest when there is a situation in which a "MODERATOR" is behaving like a jackass, and is abusing his moderator status and administravive function capabilities as such (pulling threads, closing threads), and I am being singled out only because of his "personal preferences/opinions" of me.

I do have all the back-up evidence to prove without a doubt that what he called as "advertisement" posts were made by two separate non-supporting companies (at the time the post was made), but his "personal preferences" made it ok for one post to stay and not for the other. And the icing on the cake is that I wasn't trying to sell anything so how could my post be considered advertising?????

I'll discuss more details if necessary, but I'd like to hear what you think first.

The resolution that I am seeking is either a public apology from the abusing moderator, or his resignation as a moderator if he is not willing to apologize. If he is not willing to do either on his own accord then I would like to see the owners of this forum Administratively terminate his position.

Send me an email with your complaints and who we are talking about. Examples will be appreciated also. ynot_dv8@hotmail.com

By the way, we are strictly against non-sponsors advertising on this site. Whether this be for advertising dyno-day gatherings, selling items or having people PM you for pricing, etc... Just some examples.

Tony,

Thanks for the examples of what is not allowed but none apply to what it was that I posted.

I am in the process of compiling all the information you need regarding my complaint however the threads are not available for me to reference quickly so I will need the time to type it all out. According to the moderator the threads were moved to an area that is only accessible to Administrator's, perhaps you could check to see if this was done?

In the meantime, I think that as a public figure on this forum, the Florida Members moderator COUNTRY BOY could offer an explanation of what it is that I did wrong?? I'd like to stress that you offer only 1 reason to the forum this time. I received 2 reasons.

1st, it was implied by another Fl member that my post was spam

I replied that a public invitation is NOT spam. You agreed it was not but cited that it was sales advertisement from a non-supporting sponsor so you were pulling my thread.

I, knowing that I am NOT selling anything, and wishing to respect the rights of those who are paying sponsors, reposted the invitation without my business name associated this time around.

Then you pulled my actual words out of that thread and it was replaced with "admin. will contact you". But your reply, in large bold lettering, said it was being pulled because spamming is not allowed.

Well is it spam or is it non-sponsor advertising or is it REALLY just a public invitation? If you feel it is advertising then please provide proof of just what it is you think I am advertising.

Please find below the 1st post in question that was pulled by you for non sponsor advertising.

The 2nd post you pulled for spamming is below that.

How am I singling you out? I dont know you and there are NO other threads from businesses in the FL section?

What 2 companies? You were soliciting for business with a car show, commercial, or whatever it was, also with contact information.

I take my position on this forum very seriously and I see where I did no wrong. You threatened me with legal action in a PM and you spammed the FL section despite the 2 warnings I gave you.

This should be handled shortly. Sorry, but I take it very serious when some has the nerve to call me an "abusive moderator"....

Administrators, please reference if you will thread ID #142169 and # 511926 as my supporting documentation within those threads.

1. posted in same section as mine
2. sales/advertisement
3. originating date of post is well before being a site sponsor

4. My argument is NOT about the other person, it's about the double standard

You were soliciting for business with a car show, commercial, or whatever it was, also with contact information.

1. Are all car shows solicting for business??

2. "Whatever it was" is NOT an acceptable reason on your part

3. Contact information was for directions and having enough food, since it is clearly obvious I am not selling anything that day.

Wendy, I have reviewed the threads you posted. They were borderline, even if you claim they were not advertising. Actually, they were indirect advertisements.

1. They were posted by yourself, the shop owner or employee. Not one of your customers saying "hey I know this cool shop and its having a gathering, come on out!".

2. You purposely registered on this site to promote your shop. Evidence by the 9 total posts you have, all related to this series of events.

3. The posts mention your shop name, contact information, and an invitation to come to your shop. That is advertising.

4. You did not contact Admin requesting permission to post this Open House, car show, etc... Most of the shops that do post such events have the courtesy to ask first.

Typically, we do allow things of this nature to pass (borderline) when they do not break any of the terms shown above. If one of our longtime active members posts an invite to a shop that he isn't involved with, or a dyno day, etc... that is just fine. We are very strict about shops themselves registering on the site to promote their shop however. There is a difference there.

Our moderators are a very well rounded group of people. They rarely receive any complaints, especially of this nature. We ask them to make good judgement calls, for which they typically handle well. In this case, the moderator did the correct thing. Of course he is going to get mad if you start posting the same info over and over, even though you know the issue at hand. You pushed on him, can't blame him there. Why didn't you contact Admin after the first thread?

Tony

142169 is from August 2002. It was posted by a member, who later became a moderator.

511926 is from Norris Motorsports. They are a sponsor here, and worked in conjunction with a former sponsor (C&S, whose name is in the title of that thread) of ours that did PCM tuning at their location. Mike always asked for permission first.

- I registered back in January and have not made 1 post until 3 days ago, I don't consider a time span of 6 months " purposely".

The posts mention your shop name, contact information, and an invitation to come to your shop. That is advertising.

The 2nd post mentioned no business name and my e-mail contact information in my personal name only. Geographics+invitation=advertising ????

And finally I will add that the types of cars associated with this forum account for less than .02% of my overall business revenue and I sincerly am not saying that to offend anyone but clearly my only intention was to invite anyone who had interest to participate in something fun with lots of exotic cars.

In the best interest of your site sponsors, and good business, I withdrawl my invitation to your members.

I take my position on this forum very seriously and I see where I did no wrong. You threatened me with legal action in a PM and you spammed the FL section despite the 2 warnings I gave you.

I am glad that you take your position seriously and as such are willing to recognize how to better handle this situation should it happen again. You made 3 different decisions on how to handle 1 situation. My original post was NOT spam, and had I been told upfront that my post was questionable or not allowed due to sales/advertising issues, then I would have focused on the only point that I have ever had on the whole subject-FUN. I have not ever sought out any business originating from this forum or from the city in which I reside, and I have no future intentions of doing so. Your handling the post the way you did left me no other thought than it might be a personal issue and I felt I was being singled out, and I wasn't about to give up without a fight. Now clearly you see how you left yourself wide open to the battle.

I will not return to this forum ever again but will leave you all to ponder this thought.... there are still people in the world that do tell the truth and why was it so important to you as individuals and as a group to discredit my true intent....

Tony

Didn't see this before I said all that I needed to say but it does constitute an answer.

The thread was closed and pulled and I never saw the 1st reason for it being pulled nor was I sent any messages as to what I did wrong, so I reposted it.

1.He said it was spam in 1st post-pulled

2.he agreed with me that it was NOT in the 2nd-but it did break a different rule-pulled

3.he went back to saying it was spam in the 3rd post-pulled

I can't for the life of me figure out how you conclude he did the right thing. If the right thing had been the 1st time none of this would have ever had to happen now would it?

How about this, if you can't follow the simple rules then by all means do not visit this site. I've never seen any non-sponsor get so bent out of shape when they got their hand slapped. By the way you are reacting, I sure wouldn't want to do any business with you. You mention FUN being the main topic, but go on to make this as painful as possible.

If you visit ANY message board community that has paying sponsors, you will find that non-sponsor advertising is a common rule among all of them. I'm very sorry if you are just a newbie to this sort of thing, and were not able to figure it out on your own. I'll make it easy for you to leave, buy closing your account here.

Please go away, you are doing nothing but cause trouble here. We like FUN, not trouble.
