I think that if you were able to scroll through the sponsor adds instead of having a static list it would work a lot better. Maybe a list of 20 or so showing at a time and you can just roll your mouse over an up or down arrow at the top or bottom of that list to make it scroll. Some type of order to the sponsors (Alphabetical maybe?) would also help out a lot in finding the one you want.
that's what frames would be for

Can anyone get this through their thick heads? $100,000/ year vs a few disposable members/moderators whining, hmmm wonder who will win.

The whiners don't like change, well guess what, there are millions of people on the internet that will replace every moderator and every member that don't like it the way it is.

Wondering why you get 16 adclicks when you click a link, why there are adclicks over sponsor banners, read this, the whole site, every click has a dollar amount http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/

Does IB ruin every forum it buys, or just this one?

I have a suggestion. Put the sponsors split on both sides of the threads, then Google ads at the bottom. I would have no problem doing this since I now have a 19" wide screen and it seems like when I read a thread I have to almost move my head to read the entire thing. I know most people probably dont have this setup but its a suggestion. Do with it what you want.

Brian,

It's dang near 9:00 p.m. here in Tx. I appreciate your hard work this evening compling ideas and forming new opinions.

I would like to suggest that there be a new heading...At least for the time that significant changes are underway. This most recent event is nothing less than a complete revelation to many of us Sponsors, not to mention the Member body at large.

One way to lessen the "shock and awe" would be to announce those changes in such a manner that we can all understand. The letter that was sent to us via e-mail was deceptive at best. Have you read it yourself? I encourage you to if you have not. It does not need to be open for discussion... an example would be... one week or a few days before implementation you could post...." There will be a new advertizers format rollingout on xyz date at appx xyz time. We conside rthis to be a significant change in the existing format. Your opinions and suggestions are valued. Please respond here..........."

Hope that helps.

Ignore me all you want but how is it fair to put a google clickover on top of a sponsor banner AND increase the sponsors ad costs?
Do any of you sponsors realize this?

I dont want to sound like an *** here, but come on! IB is making a very large profit on this, and I think the least they could do would be to MAINTAIN the site..

I dont see anything wrong with putting the google ad at the top, then putting the sponcers back on the side..

Lets do some math here.. Lets just say that there is 150 sponsors.. each pays $225 a month, for 12 months.. Thats $405,000 for 1 year! And google is paying how much?

And with the money from both the site and google, I think you could find someone to maintain the sponsor list .

Just thought I would point that out too.

Like I said though, I dont want to be or sound like an ***, I just want LS1tech the way it was before this whole incident. I work for one of the sponsors here, and I think this is a low blow to every sponsor in this site. People were able to look at the automotive sponsors (not google) on this site and be able to trust that they were buying things from a good & reliable site.

I feel like I'm on the titanic here. I haven't been here as long as others but it just feels like I'm riding a sinking ship.

I believe there are 2 solutions. The Google ads go, or the paying sponsors have to pay Google ads rates which is pennies.

I'm not leaving just yet, but this site seams to be walking on thinner and thinner ice. It won't be long till sponsors start to pull out and members start to leave, what will be left with then?

Ok I did not read everyone post and this might have been talked about but the sponsor are not that random. I want throu all 24 pages. Weber, edelbrock, amsoil, these 3 were always in some combination. Weber only not seen is on 3 pages, edelbrock in 5 so if it is suppose to ramdon it sure is in. 24 pages I think I might have seen more of other vendors, did not see Nitrous Outlet, Nitrous Express, Harris, and many many others.

Google ad rates may be pennies but figure I'm getting up to 16 clicks everytime I check one link on this site, multiply that times a year. It equals out to six figures (thats $100,000 PLUS) as said on the first or second page.

Gilbert (Ratchthed) -- thanks man, I'm doing my best... FWIW, I'm about to switch out the ad units with full width banners now, so you guys get 160x72 instead of the old 100x45.. I also added your ad units to ALL sections of the site now, in the top positions. It's still only 12 tiles, so I know it's not the total solution, but it's a start. And yes, I read that email -- it sucked. I'll be talking to folks about that too. I know our guys want to improve communication with all the advertisers - we just need to get 'em talking like people and not robots.

So this basicly means there is no longer a non-sponsor soliciting policy since anyone who shows up on google is now a sponsor. Good to know!

To make me happy, all you have to do is make the original sponsors happy by enforcing this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/user-support-resources/703712-non-sponsor-soliciting-policy.html . Then take away all the double click ads and the rapid fire sound effects every time a page loads. That's all, should be easy.

I don't expect any of IB to show up at the LSX Shootout series next year, and think about what could happen to that series without the support of Tech if everyone bails. The site is more than a site, it's a community, and without that community, it really could effect a series like that. Milking it like a cash cow is going to kill it. Quickly.

This puts us staff members in a pretty precarious position. How can we justifiably remove a non-sponsor link now that dozens of them are pasted all over the site?

Good to know brains. Maybe there could be a vote on mutiple templates and let the members and sponsors decide on which they like better?

Maybe something like making the sponsors icons smaller and maybe putting two rows so theyre kind of smaller but when you hover your mouse over them it will make it bigger not quite sure what the technical word for that is but it would definitely shorten the list but you will still be able to see all the sponsors within the length of the page and all it takes is moving the mouse over the blocks to make them pop out so you can see it better...just some food for thought
