Whats up with the paypal fees?

Whats up with the paypal fees?
So I go searching various threads in the For Sale section and what do I see? Everyone asking to front for the 3% paypal fees. Now I am sure no one reads the user agreements that every thing you sign up for asks you to read but theres a nice section under IV. Receiving Payments
5. No Surcharges. Under Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express regulations and the laws of several states, including California, merchants may not charge a fee to the buyer for accepting credit card payments (often called a "surcharge"). You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as payment. This restriction does not prevent you from imposing a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge (in other words, the handling fee for transactions paid through PayPal may not be higher than the handling fee for transactions paid through other payment methods). Nor does this restriction apply to Pound-denominated transactions by sellers residing in the United Kingdom listing items for sale on a UK-based website.
Is there anything to be done with the constant abuse in the For Sale section regarding this?

Sure, go ahead and turn them in to Paypal. While you're at it, call the local sheriff for people going 72 in a 70....
{you won't be able to make a dent, I don't think}
I'm not saying it's right, I have NEVER asked for additional funds for Paypal fees (and I pay Paypal thousands a year in fees). I just don't think it's worth the time to mess with. LS1Tech is not going to police it. We moderators don't get paid enough to do Paypal's work for them. Heck, my salary here isn't even enough to buy a pack of gum...

Well you don't see any of the sponsors asking for the 3% that they don't get from credit card purchases, but you see a ton of guys asking for 3% for paypal on here. I think that it can make a dent because thats 3% of my money that I'm not going to pay when I could go to an honest seller and get what I'm looking for regardless of the price.

Sponsors get the items considerably cheaper (a lot) than they sell them for. If you're selling something in the for sale section 99.9% of people are selling something cheaper than they bought it for.

I find it slightly amusing that you are worried about members not following Paypal's rules, yet you choose not to follow ours.
Since you feel it is necessary to post Paypal's rules repeatedly in other members for sale ads, please allow me to point out another rule that needs to be followed...
Here are a couple of examples from your crusade:

Your responses are not constructive, and honestly it is not your place to tell them what or how to price their items. Their transactions are between them, the buyer and Paypal, and does not include you. LS1tech does not have anything to do with the actual transactions in the classifieds. We are simply supplying a way to advertise, not unlike any newspaper or trader magazine, except we allow members to do it for free.
If you see something that needs our attention, please report it using the report bad post feature. You are not a moderator or the Paypal police here, so please do not post up in the classifieds if you are not selling or potentially buying.
Thanks

When someone asks for a significant drop in price, they should expect to cover all other incidental charges. If you want to buy something , pay whats asked or dont bother. People crying about stuff like this need to just stick with cash and local pickup.

It is constructive, its a suggestion to act within the guidelines that were set by the party that handles the transaction of funds.
I could have gone out of my way and got their paypal addresses and reported them for the violation, then they could have dealt with paypal themselves while their accounts were frozen. Instead I informed them of what they were doing wrong.

And I am fine with that, it isn't posted anywhere that I have to tack on another 3% because of the method of payment that I choose. Its not state sales tax its a fee that the seller is responsible to pay, not me to add on to the named price.

the items or try contacting Paypal directly...good luck with that.
Andrew already nailed it. We (LS1Tech) aren't going to monitor
every sale to ensure that a user isn't hit with Paypal fees.
Buy direct from our suppliers if you want to support LS1Tech.

Thats not too difficult for me and I'd rather not get into it.
Thats what I intend on doing, I enjoy the site, the information that it has already, the minds behing the keyboards that supply information, and the bodies that hold those minds that are most times good people to see at a meet and know you have something in common.

And I would have bought from you, if you were an honest seller that followed not only the rules set by ls1tech but the rules set by the method in which you accept payment.

wow... just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading this 2 year old arguing about this......get over it! if you want to bitch about Paypal fee's then do not use the classified section period and buy everything brand new if your going to bitch about 3%
