LS Engine?: Car has other engine

Considering leaving the 'fast car' game all together for awhile.
Especially considering I'm going to be on a near 2 month long road trip over the summer and am probably going to miss all but maybe two of the track dates I'm looking forward to and then when I get back I'll be doing my last semester of college and having to move.

Considering parting it out as have put together a part-out list and it isn't even complete, and it has some very fair prices on a lot of stuff and it already totals at $6700.

Anyway it's probably one of the rarest DSM's, I get SO many people asking me how I found a 'panda' 6/4 combo laser, when really I just stumbled across it by accident. Even has the red porno interior.

This car does not look at all like what it is. It looks like just a typical 19 year old car, you would never suspect a thing looking at it.

I bought it back in August after regretting selling my talon, thinking I wanted out of the game. So i picked this up, the headgasket was going bad. Wasn't overheating, but was pushing coolant. Also needed a bunch of other maintenance and little things as it had been a DD for 3 years.

I did a bunch of general maintenance/cleaning up. Fixed boost leaks, tweaked the tune, etc. I took it to the track in October, I drove it up there and back (total of 4 hours of driving) and I was babying it and ran 11.7@123mph on horrible street tires.

The headgasket eventually got worse and worse over the next month so I parked it. In december/january I replaced it and did a bunch more maintenance. It had only been running an OEM organic headgasket for 3 years.
I also did a bunch of new mods as I wanted to run 10's this year.
The only thing the car really needs for a 10 second run is a re-tune and possibly some drag radials. The current tune is still fine and should run 11's all day, the car is ready though for more boost and some way more aggressive timing. The timing currently is super super reserved as it's a street tune on E85
The only issue with the current tune, is that through all of the recent changes it's not quite as good as it was. It still runs great in boost and pulls hard, but sometimes when idling, it'll just get choppy a bit and level back out. It's no big issue, just wanted to point it out. No mysteries here.

Everything done 650 miles ago:

new PRo2 external gate housing
3bolt-2bolt conversion to downpipe
tial f38 wastegate /w new updated top
tial q bov
New Gates Timing belt
All new OEM timing pullies/tensioner
Head resurfaced / cleaned
valve job including new valve seals
new cam seals
all other new upper gaskets/seals
all new mani gaskets / o2 gasket / downpipe gasket / turbo->mani gaskets
New Cometic MLS Headgasket
New battery

It has been driven right around 650 miles on it since semi-new build.

The car runs very good and can be driven around town like it's nothing.
Still has all amenities like power steering, power windows, heat/defrost, stereo, even washer fluid (possibly only working washer fluid on a 1g DSM left ). Full interior still as well.

The body on the car itself its in okay condition.

It basically looks like a 19 year old car. It has paint chips, some dents/dings. Very little rust (no patches or anything, just a brown spot here and there), just a bunch of minor blemishes. The car actually looks pretty good from a distance. Mechanically it's pretty damn solid. The only thing I could say is that the fuel sending unit is janky. The fuel gauge quits going down at half a tank. It hasn't bothered me since I rarely let my cars go beneath half a tank anyway. The sending unit is $50 and it's a very easy fix, just open the fuel pump hatch in the trunk, put on the new sending unit, and you're done.

Interior is in decent condition. Has the rare porno red cloth interior. Good shape, no tears or anything. Headliner has a bit of sag in the rear but not bad.

Worst part on the exterior is drivers rear quarter. Looks like the car was sideswiped at some point and someone attempted to repaint it and did a shoddy job, you can see where it was taped off and the paint wasnt smoothed and there are some bubbles and such. Doesn't look bad from a distance but up close it's obvious.

the car was street tuned on E85 so it was never tuned to its potential. It's running VERY safe timing, right around 14/15 degrees which is what most 93 octane guys run. Most e85 guys see anywhere from 18-25. So there's a TON of power just to be had from a good dyno tune. Either way the car pulls hard at low timing and is very safe on it.

Current mod List:

i have no way to deliver.

this car is a turn key and go, runs great!

I have receipts for damn near EVERYTHING on this car excluding the built trans as it was bought used but it's still in amazing shape. No receipt for it, you'll just have to take my word - it shifts great! I have receipts from the internals/turbo/cams/all the way to machine work / oil / wipers!

more pics soon

It's the same thing as a Talon or Eclipse, just different badging/bumpers/tail lights.

For some reason from what I've seen there are a lot of 1.8L and non-turbo 2.0 Lasers.

However they didn't come in AWD until 1992, and they never had good sales and in 93 they sold near none and ended production. only a few 94's produced in 93 exist, technically they're the rarest, however for some reason many DSM people want an AWD 6/4 combo 92 laser. It just so happens me and other guy with a DSM here in town each have 6/4 combo 92 lasers haha, and we weren't specifically looking for one.

Anyway, here are some other pics. Sorry car is dirty in some of these, was too cold to wash it in most of the situations as it got DD'd in the blizzard we had in the midwest as it gets around so damn good in the snow.

Head back on for the first time, new timing equipment all on.

New bov, welding done by TAB Fabrication, and new PR o2 housing

bump, feel free to throw some trade ideas at me.

I'm really looking for cash though, however I'd consider the 'right' trade.

bump.

Had a few trade offers but not anything that was appealing.

Hell maybe someone would even like this for a DD, I've been DDing it lately due to E85 costs. 2.44 a gallon

She's built/maintained right!

Thanks, they're fun and you always have a love/hate relationship with them when you have them - and they're so easy to miss when they're gone.

Currently pending sale tomorrow...

Even though it may be sold, I tried to make it look presentable today

I saw this a few months back, still wish I could have got it then. I went for a ride in a 50 trim E-85 1st gen a month or so back and at 24 psi it was amazing. If my SS was paid for I'd go for it lol. GLWS.

Yea i actually decided during the build itself to see about selling it but no one wanted a non-running car. So I just decided to finish it and then list it.

I just kind of had a growing up moment and realized with everything I'm doing and changing this year, it's just not practical for me to stay in the fast car game.

It's loads of fun though.. I'm secretly hoping no one buys it until after the first track day which is like April 15th lol.

Which very well may happen due to how few import people there are around where I live.

Today I installed the power steering again, put all the seats back in, and then I just took it out and drove it for like 2 hours. No destination, just drove for 2 hours, saw 22psi just once for a few seconds on an on-ramp. I really don't ever do much with my cars on the street as my job is driving.

It really surprises you, and the way the power comes in is just addicting.

I've had alot of toys and the 4g63s can just be violent little suckers. They don't wag the tail or growl like a rwd v8, but I've killed 331'd mustangs and LS1s in my ported stock turbo winter beaters lol. Called out bikes from digs in the serious ones haha
