Default For Sale: 1999 Firebird Formula - built 347

Okay folks, here goes.

After some long and very conflicted thinking, I have decided to sell my Firebird. I’m going to be buying the new Camaro, and while I would like nothing more than to keep this car forever - paying for, garaging, insuring, and modifying two cars just isn’t a financial reality right now for me. So I had to choose, one or the other.

Well enough about me. (You probably don’t care about that)

THE CAR:

Black 1999 Pontiac Firebird Formula. 6 speed manual transmission. Cloth seats (Grey), monsoon stereo with disc changer, and factory alarm system. Clean Title.

Located in Fort Worth, Texas. You don't have to be local to buy it, but you do have to come to me.

92,173 miles currently – BUT at 86,000 miles I had the engine pulled and *completely* rebuilt from the ground up. The only things that aren’t brand new on it are the crank, the block, and the external covers. Full maintenance including 100,000 mi service was done as well, with Royal Purple, even though the car isn’t quite there yet. What can I say; I meant to keep this thing forever. Only issues are the auto up/down antenna is stuck in the up position, and the left turn signal doesn't disengage by itself.

This is a fully built, forged 347 made (overbuilt) with the kind of premium parts designed to take whatever you can throw at it. There is over $10,000 into the motor alone.

Here are some of the parts and procedures that went into this car:

Parts

GM 243 Heads
Flowtech Custom 228/224 112 Cam
Eaton Hydraulic Roller Lifters
Cometic .040 Head Gaskets
Rollmaster Billet Timing set
ARP Crank bolt
Flowtech custom 3 piece hardened 7.400 Pushrods
Comp Roller Rockers - 1.75 ratio
FTI spring kit - Hardened Valve Locks, Hardened Spring Locators, Viton Valve Seals, Ti Retainers

JE Forged Pistons
Forged H-beam rods 6.125 x 2.100 x .927
New rings - file fit
New cam bearings
New main bearings
New rod bearings
New main studs
ARP head studs
New gasket kit - Gen III/LS1
GM LS6 Intake
Powerbond Pulley + new belts
SDPC LS6 oil pump
Pacesetter Long Tube Headers – coated
K&N FIPK Induction kit
New coolant seals, gaskets, and sensor
New Knock sensor
Transmission serviced w/ Royal Purple
Optima Red Top Battery

Vat and clean Engine Block
Vat and clean Engine Parts
Bead Blast and Magnaflux Cylinder Heads
Magnaflux & Inspect block, crank, connecting rods, etc
Disassemble, Clean, and set up Cylinder Heads
Resurface/Mill Cylinder heads for added compression
Resurface/Deck Engine block
Bore/Hone Engine block
Clearance Block for rods
Balanced Crank
Cam degreed to ensure proper function

Raptor Shift Light (Red)
Star Stage 3 Clutch + Updated GM Hydraulics and new flywheel (steel)
BMR tubular K-Member + A arms
BMR rear LCA’s
Prothane poly motor mounts
Pro 5.0 Shifter
Speed Inc Lightweight carpet
Speed Inc Custom 3” True Dual exhaust with X-pipe and Magnaflow bullet-style mufflers
Nitto 555R 245/50R16 Drag Radials

Dyno’d 351 rwhp on a notoriously stingy Mustang Dyno. On that particular dyno, stock Cobra Terminators register as 300 rwhp. I had it on a dynojet once, where it did 395 at 5000 rpm, before they had to shut the dyno down due to some computer issues. In short, this motor is easily good for over 420 rwhp.

What’s it run at the track? I don’t know – haven’t run it since the motor swap since I didn’t fancy putting the stress on the rear end until I had the money to replace it in case anything happened. And I never did quite get to that point. For the most part, since the motor swap, this car's only come out of the garage on weekends for Sunday drives.

My loss, and your gain at $16,000. Note that this is NOT open to “OBO” as that is MORE than a deal already on the price and I can always part it out or just keep it myself if need be.

I know. Much less than I paid into it, believe me. Not even counting labor.

Clean car. Not worth anything near $16,000 though.

Like I said, it is far, far less than went into the car and I'm taking a big loss at that price. If that's not good enough for ya, I can't help ya.

It's a mustang dyno thing... keep reading a little and you see some idea of the dynojet numbers if that floats your boat. I suppose I could convert it to fwhp for some big numbers? I dunno I never was any good at marketing.

It's not a Mustang dyno thing. It's just that your car is a My friend's shop has a Mustang Dyno, and while they are a little less rwhp-friendly, they aren't as bad as some make them out to be.

Like I said I got the dynojet numbers (granted, sorta) to prove that it IS the mustang dyno and not the car. Or at least that particular shop's mustang dyno, which they - again like I said - told me read particularly low.
