1993 Mustang GT w/Single Turbo in Raleigh, NC
I know this is a chebby board, but letting you know about my turbo mustang for sale just in case somebody wants to tread over to the dark side.
The time has come to sell my toy. I have a house and want to do some stuff to it, I want a dog, and I want to upgrade my DD. Right now I can't afford to have a toy and live how I want, so sadly the toy has to go. I have tried to figure up my finances in different ways, but it has got to go.
Here is the down and dirty with it:
1993 Viper Red Mustang GT w/ black interior
290rwhp/290rwtq N/A
460+ on 8-9lbs of boost
Haven't taken it to the track...last time I tried I had an "incident" which you can read about later.
The odo says (1)4XXXX miles, but there are actually 12XXXX miles on it. The previous owner had to replace the cluster in it, and the odometer was +20,000 miles. So there are roughly 120K miles on the engine and trans. The bottom end is stock, compression is fine though. Recently had the block pulled, checked (along with heads), O-ringed, etc. after it blew a head gasket.
The trans shifts very well, although for some reason (I don't know much about transmissions) if you start the car and drive, 2nd gear will typically grind the first time you put it in. I don't know if this is a serious problem or a synchro or what, but it has never made a noise after that first time.
Mods:
Custom turbo kit
PT67 turbo
Procharger 3 core intercooler
Turbonetics Racegate Wastegate
Godzilla Blow off valve
AFR 165 heads, 1.6RRs
Wolverine 1087 cam
42# injectors/255 Walbro fuel pump
Inline booster pump
MSD 6AL
Elec fan from taurus
Griffen 3 core radiator
Subframe connectors
Car has been lowered, not sure what was used but I can check if you are interested
Weld Rodlites all around
Nitto 555R drag radials in the back 275/50/15s
Custom paint from Tunstall Williams - Viper Red
Flaming River manual rack (no power steering)
A/C delete
Autometer Fuel, Boost, and Water temp gauges
Battery relocated to trunk (necessary for turbo placement)
Custom exhaust pipe...basically straight off the downpipe with a bullet
muffler.
The car does not overheat, or behave badly at all. Car does idle a bit rough if it is cold when it is started, but after it warms up it runs like a champ. I drove it in stop and go traffic with no problems.
The "incident" was when I took it to the track, the hood came up. Fastlane Motorsports replaced it with one they had lying around, and it doesn't look bad at a distance. Up close, the hood color isn't quite a match, and has some dings in it. The panel between the hood and the windshield will need to be worked a bit or replaced, then painted. There are also two small indentations in the roof where the hood hit it. You can't see these unless you are looking for them, but they may be something that a new owner would want to fix if they bought the car.
Spool time is negligible, the car made over 460rwhp. The shop has the last dyno sheet, I never took a look at it. It is probably closer to 470rwhp with the cooler weather.
Never did a burnout, no hard launches, never in boost in 5th gear. I babied this car.
The car is very solid, and it hauls ***. That's what I built it for...to just flat out run in a straight line, and that's what it does. I have been as honest as I can be with the mods and the issues with the car. If I'm forgetting something, it definitely isn't on purpose.
Asking $13,000 OBO. I am happy to work on the price with you. I put a LOT of money into this car, and would not expect to get it all back.
The previous owner of the turbo kit was running a pt76 turbo, 11.X @ 12X mph with a less-than-spectacular short time.
This is an old pic, before the damage and with a different set of tires.
They are 275/60s, which wouldn't quite fit on my car, which is a real shame because they look hot. We traded for 275/50s.
Here are some current pics, I left them all huge, can do some resized ones if there is a need. I prefer the big ones on the net though, since they are a bit more detailed. The car hasn't been washed in about a year despite what the paint looks like (in the shop getting upgrades most of the time), and the interior needs to be cleaned out. The interior is in really great shape...the ashtray is broken and one of the horn buttons is missing on the steering wheel, but otherwise it is beautiful.

This is 2 pics of the damaged spots on the roof...I circled them in a different pic so you can see what I'm talking about. The only way to show what they look like is to get them in a reflection:
