Default having trouble finding TPI crate engine

hey guys, i know there are quite a few third gen owners lurking around here...
a customer of mine wants to put a crate engine in his iroc, and for the life of me i cant find a place online that has them available...im not the most computer savvy guy, so if any of you can hook me up with a link or a place to call it will be much appreciated...thanks

have you tryed the local dealers?? thats where i get all my stock engines from.

most gm crate engines, come with a 3 year 100k mile warranty also!

if your looking for a perf engine? try www,dyno-flo.com they will build anything you want.

maybe ill try the dealership on monday, see what gmpp has to offer...
the golen engines are nice, but a little out of his price range...

What does he need? Is he trying to go performance or just get the car running?

hey look at craigslist....but... look craigslist-chicago area-auto parts-(search)ls1 and scroll down, its a badass tpi 355, like 400 hp and chromed out. its a f-ing nice tpi motor i think he builds or supplys tpi motors for builders

First what year is it? I can get you a ZZ4/385 fast burn motor That's built to ZZ4/430 specs. For a good price.And it comes with the serpentine belt system

Why not jet buy a regular SBC and just put the TPI on it and retune it to match?

Agreed. A lot of guys get sbc lonblocks and just swap out the manifold for a tpi setup. TPIS still has some setups and Edelbrock also has hi-perf tpi parts.

You have to be careful when buying crate engines or replacement engines. Many of them are set up with flat-tappet cams, perimeter bolt heads, and two-piece rear main seals for lower cost and greater interchange. However, most TPI engines are newer roller-cam blocks with centerbolt heads and one-piece rear main seals. You can use older engines with a TPI, but you'll have to buy some new parts to make it fit.

The one LS1Z28 has would work great. However, you'll need the Vortec TPI intake manifold from Scoggin Dickey, a set of headers from my father Dyno Don with the EGR crossover, and a custom chip from me.

How much power is he looking for? GM Performance Parts only sells a few crate engines. The ZZ4 is fine also but I wouldnt use those heads. They dont have the EGR crossover either.

The cylinder heads have a dual bolt pattern for both kind of intakes.

Yes, but the intake ports are the taller Vortec style. A standard TPI intake will not cover up those ports. You need the Vortec TPI intake for Fast Burn heads.

Yes, Dyno Don is my father. Not Dyno Don Nicholson.
