Default Well... I may be on my way to AZ afterall...

Well... I am almost done getting hired by the US Border Patrol. After months in the process... I have completed all I need to. I am just waiting for "the call"... it may be a few weeks... or months more, lol.

I may be in Yuma or Tucson... (hopefully Tucson)...

any advice for someone who's never even landed in an AZ airport... let alone lived in AZ???

I am pretty excited about it... Tucson seems like a great place and I am looking forward to working there.

What's the car scene like there?
Living expenses?
Is it as hot as I am thinking?
etc...

In Phoenix at least the car scene picks up in the late fall when it starts to get nice out again. You can find an event/cruise/show pretty much every weekend. If you don't see a thread on here check the events section of azfba.com or just go to the website for the track. I'm not sure if there is a car scene in Yuma but I know that there is in Tucson. I believe sonoranmusclecars.com is their website but not sure how active the forums are.

I'm not sure what the cost of living is in Florida but Arizona isn't as bad as California in that respect... now the nasty brown air that is a different story.

If you are coming from Florida the transition to Arizona weather might not be as bad as it was for me since I use to live in Illinois. You will be trading the humidity for some extra degrees. Summer can be pretty bad the first couple years but you get use to it.

yeah... i can't live in Phoenix. I'd be in Yuma or Tucson for 2-3 yrs. Whatever... it's a good job, good salary, and good career advancement. It's just 2-3 yrs right??? lol...

My first choice was San Diego... but after seeing the Cost of Living... uh-uh... I'm not gonna spend all my money on rent. Screw that.

Why does Tucson suck tho???

Yeah I heard that, **** living in san diego for sure.

It's just boring as ****, and its a long drive from phoenix so it's hard to escape.

When your there though I would check out the pima air museum though. That's pretty sweet if your into planes and whatnot.

Tuscon is nice, i have alot of family down there. the heat will take a little to get used to, but its bearable. Check around you should be able to find some car clubs down there, and phoenix is just a hour and a half to two hours away, and there is plenty of things to do here.
Good luck with the hiring process!

tucson is boring if you dont know a good group of people to hang out with. everything seems to close up around 8pm there. even the university area. its just way too quiet. and its not that far from phx, so driving up here for events and stuff isnt bad. usually takes me 45min to an hour driving either way. (of course thats going a lil more north of the speed limit). Tucson is great for living costs, its cheaper then phx, oh and its normally cooler temps down there. just watch out for Speedway Blvd, unmarked patrols cars favorite hang out spot.

thanks guys... i'd have to pay my dues for about 2-3 years.

cheap living would help since i'm getting married next year also.

thanks for the house offer... but I'm in the neighborhood of less than $1,000 a month. don't want to spend so much on something that isn't mine. i have a nice condo in Miami if you're interested, lol...

yeah... a 160 t-stat sounds like a necessity now.

Tucson > Phoenix

No gay *** traffic jams
Everything is much closer, no driving 60 min to meet up
Not nearly as hot.

There is plenty to do aslong as you know people. There are plenty of car guys, and offcourse you get the joy of seen the UofA kick ASUs *** in football and basketball.

I actually like both tucson and phoenix alot, but phoenix gets a bit hotter and its to big for my taste. But nothing to complain about.

And yes i did run Nitto DRs on the stock 10bolt. I switched to Chrome z06 rims recently but 555rs are going on those aswell. Even with the 4.10s it holds, but i dont dump the clutch at 5krpm.
