why not find a stock exhaust set up put it on, get it sign off/ref'd/what ever then put your stuff back on?
yup
Some kid before me in court the other day tried to use that excuse and the judge didn't allow it. He said the kid showed have proof of correction, whether he owned the car (anymore) or not. He gave the kid 2 weeks to get it taken care of.
Since they passed the budget a while ago, the ref stations are open.

I have heard of people just paying the fines and just moving on.....with no issues. Another option would be to sell your car and go show the judge a copy of a DMV record of transfer. You can pick the paper work up at any DMV or AAA. Just fill out the transfer to a friend you "sell it to" and whall-ah!!!! You don't have the car anymore so it would be impossible for you to REF it. Case dismissed. Then of course the deal falls through and you retain ownership of the car
You're welcome.

I'm almost positive you can't just pay this fine and be done... if he sent you to a ref, then that's what you gotta do. And it's one thing to find a "nice" smog shop to pass you, but good luck finding a ref.... those guys work for the government and their job is to fine guys like us and deem our vehicles in-operable until compliant with state laws... in other words, i'm pretty sure your screwed. Worse case scenerio (and probably what you'll have to do) is put your car back to stock, take it to the ref, then put all the crap back on it again... sounds like too much of a pain IMO
meh.... just sell the car
oh wait, you can't do that... CA requires you to smog it, get it reffed, before you can sell it...
Your Screwed!
that's one thing i don't miss about CA...
