sooo they wont impound if i drive it?
since i got this ref ticket ive been sketchy on drving my car...the code on the sticker states:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24004.htm
but doesnt say it will be impounded if seen on road again...the officer that issued the ticket said he wouldnt pull me over again but if a fellow officer did there could be heavier fines...but didnt say it would be towed.
im told by a friend they cannot take away ur sole transportation...that they can just up the fine ur gonna get come court time...
any insight ? ? ?

24004. No person shall operate any vehicle or combination of vehicles after notice by a peace officer, as defined in Section 830.1 or subdivision (a) of Section 830.2 of the Penal Code, that the vehicle is in an unsafe condition or is not equipped as required by this code, except as may be necessary to return the vehicle or combination of vehicles to the residence or place of business of the owner or driver or to a garage, until the vehicle and its equipment have been made to conform with the requirements of this code.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to an employee who does not know that such notice has been issued, and in such event the provisions of Section 40001 shall be applicable.
I don't see how you can think you can drive it again? Why risk more fines and more trouble?

well it doesn't say they won't impound it either. But i don't know because regular fix it tickets you can drive around no problem until the court date, then if you still haven't fixed it you get into bigger trouble.

I've gotten a ref ticket before. The officer also told me that my car would be impounded if I was caught driving it anywhere other than STRAIGHT home after he wrote the ticket......or straight to the REF for testing.
Not sure how they enforce that though. How would they know if you were:
A. On your way to the REF
B. On your way to have subsequent repairs made at a shop
C. Went to the REF previously, and you're awaiting a court date to discuss your options with a judge.

That is why I don't put anything on my car that is not CARB Legal. Of course they can't see and probably cannot hear the cam but it will pass smog and the OBD II test also.

CARB legal sucks. That means if you want to stay NA than you'll always be slow. I don't think they can impound your car. Just tell them you are going to the shop to get it taken care of
