I think I mentioned a long time ago that your weird issues could be due to a bad BCM. You do need a specific one. You need one that matches your specific pellet value of your key. There are 15 different pellet values.

You need to measure the resistence in the chip in your key.

I could be wrong, but I thought the BCMs write what ever key resistance they sense the first time they are powered up?

I only show one part number for all the different Camaros 97-02. PN 9353681

What issues are you having?

The Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) monitors the system (this function is embedded in the BCM [Body Control Module] for 96-02 years). Modules are located under the RH side of the dashboard.

When you insert the key and turn to ON[RUN]. The TDM reads the resistance of the key pellet and compares that to what is stored in its memory. If the reading matches, the TDM (or BCM) sends a ground to the TDR to allow the starter to crank when you turn to the START position. Simultaneously, it sends a signal to the computer to allow fuel to the injectors. Your engine is allowed to start.

oh, well ima buy a new BCM, the PN i have in my ride is PN 9353691 also got it to double check from a chevy dealer with my last 8#s of my vin.
the problem is pretty much the lights all over the car, (headlights, rear side markers, windows, and lock button will stop working randamly and like today the windows are working but the lock wont work and my headlights flikker when i turn them on, also i hear a clicking noise coming right out of the BCM module, and even when the car is moving just random clicks out of it. also my SECURITY light stays solid ON. all the time, if it was my vatts the light would of start blinking. so yeah. im just gonna get a new one from the dealer or if anyone is down to help me try to fix it lol (theres a fix on it)

i cant find it right now, but theres a write up somewhere on this forum. you gotta reweld a relay. i had weird issues and it fixed it. might be worth looking into before you drop some cash on a module and **** with all the VATS programming.
