ok so the res was really easy to take out. there are two bolts in the middle, size 10, and then three plastic clips along the top. then you just pull the wire harness from the pump as well as the fluid line.

i was really surprised to see how much room it freed up before the radiator

im not sure how much our reservoirs take but on average reservoirs i see at work take 2+ gallons of fluid. so this saves 15-20 pounds of weight

That's a pretty good amount of weight for something so useless.

I had mine drained anyways, but the unit itself weights a good amount believe it or not, the plastic is thick.

mine might be different than the LS1s. i just took mine out. there were 4 clips, then i took out the 3 clips on the bottom of the bumper and it slid right out. it held roughly 4 liters of water, so thats close to 9 pounds. add in 5-6 for the tank and its roughly a 15 pound loss from the front of the car

nice dude, did it free up a good amount of room before the radiator?

It shouldn't affect anything until you fab up a custom bumper support and turn that entire area into a CAI by using sheet aluminum to seal it up. I'll probably be getting rid of mine tomorrow, since I almost never use it anyways. One of the guys I know is a master fabricator and he might cut me a deal on fabbing up a custom bumper support and air dam setup, so this piece needs to get out of the way.

Yes I know this is an old thread but I figured I'd bring it up since I'm removing my windshield fluid reservoir and I know a lot of us still have it installed. I've heard people removing and painting them. Seems straight forward.

I honestly can't remember the last time I've used the fluid, don't even know if it still works LOL
