No, I haven't seen the fight... yet.

I'm starting a petition to make this kind of thread a ban-worthy offense though.

Someone paid those judges off. They were not watching the same fight. I have not seen a bullshit call like that since Kevin Randleman fought Bas Rutten.

you have to beat the champion to become the champion. the judges were saying "we dont want a champ by way of leg kick." also, that call wasnt even that bad compared to some of the recent calls. Like bisping v. hammill

i feel bad for shogun though kinda

Then explain how forrest griffin won the title from Rampage? All Forrest did was leg kicks against Rampage and won the title.

Here is the breakdown of damage done, I guess Shogun landed 82 strikes where Machida only landed 42 strikes.

Just watched it, and this is how I scored it:
1st round: Rua
2nd round: Machida
3rd round: Machida
4th round: Rua
5th round: Rua

Machida's legs were toast by the middle of the 4th. He did have some big counters that probably gave him some big points with the judges in the early rounds.

Because if you recall Forrest had a few takedowns on Rampage. Shogun didnt have one take down at all. Actually he was stuffed 7+ times on his take down attempts. There is no doubt that if he scored a takedown or atleast knocked down Macheda in the fight he (shogun) would have won.

i am sorry that was crap, i dont give any rounds to machida... rua plain and simple fought like machida does and beat him at his game, it was rather boring fight, but shogun won... i mean machida had a counter here and there, but all major punches, kicks and knees were landed by shogun..... i mean look at the end of the fight machida face had cuts on it, and he was limpin around, shogun more or less looked fresh

Exactly what I was thinking. I just finished the watching the fight. Every round went to rua in my opinion the 2nd and 3rd were a bit closer but rua was pushing the fight making his own pace. He was doing what he wanted to do. I felt bad for rua cuz at the end of the fight he knew he won, and machida knew he lost, you could see it all over their face's.

TOTAL BULLSHIT SCORING!!!!!!!

If Shogun got the title like he should have we could have maybe need Anderson Silva fight for the 205lb belt, which would have been sweet. Now we will have to wait for a rematch and there is a very good chance Shogun will get beat for real the next time around by Machida.

what makes you say that? I think Rua is a better fighter, he beat Machida at his own game. I think he will have a hard time breaking his karate habbits, I think thats why he lost.

Machida posses a very nasty skill set. If Shogun sticks to the same strategy for the rematch like he said he would it might turn out bad. Shogun fought like he has never fought before, machida was not ready for that and if he makes adjustments he might take the fight this time around. The fight was very close to be honest even though Shogun clearly won.

Thats true, I'm not doubting Machida skills, he's ******* awesome, but I think Rua just has more natural skill. I think it could go either way, because like you said he will learn form his loss(Machida).
