It's like owning a handgun!... Just cuz you have one doesn't mean you should go out shooting ****!! ...... Just cuz you can do 150mph, doesn't mean that you should.

It's not just American cars that can go 100+.

Pretty much any car can. Heck my old 1991 Geo Metro 993 cc, 3 cyl 50 hp car could do it.

+1

Go up Sepulveda Pass, Kellog Hill, Conejo Pass or the Tujunga Pass. Which lanes are the "fast lanes"? the right lane. These hills/passes always have some jack *** doing 60 in the left lane.

I'm not saying that everybody should speed, but people really need to be aware of their surroundings. If someone is coming up behind you, then you need to move to the right to let them through if you are in the left most lane.

I cannot express how much truth this post has.

I agree, just trying to point out the fine line with things. Like window tinting for example, how is it legal for shops to install illegal tint?
I'm sure it all has to do with money. If cars topped out at the speed limits, that's a big hit to the state's income.

Obviously. I said American cars because this county can only regulate the American companies.

And yes I'm aware we have many regulations on cars we import. Hopefully you get what I mean.

I can't speak for you but the last time I woke up I was in a free country. I guess if every liberal tree hugging hippie loving Obama supporting politician got their way then maybe we all would be driving electric powered golf carts while they fly for free in their private jets laughing at the little guys.

But for now I'll enjoy my freedom and drive what I want to. You better too cause soon this will be a socialist country and then we may not get to choose what we want to enjoy.

If I have to pay taxes for roads and Highway Patrol and whatnot I then I see driving as a right. When I lost my license my senior year I pulled out my dad's Cat Challenger 45 and drove that bitch everywhere for 6-months. If I ever loose my license again I'll pull out the Challenger again! ...or maybe I'll build up a golf cart!

I dont agree with that. The taxes that go towards those things are accrued when driving... IE: registration taxes and gas taxes. Therefore you pay those taxes WHEN and IF you drive. If you choose not to drive you dont pay those taxes.

There are pull over laws in most states, not that im in a western state, but MN and ND for sure, which means getting into the left lane on the interstate when there is one on the shoulder and slowing down to a 'reasonable' speed, - and the officers always approach in the ditch from the passenger side.

A few other comments...

To the poster who wants to be a CHP officer: WHY? What good purpose are you going to serve (make your fellow man suffer)...?

I had a highschool friend who joined the police force, became a highway patrol officer which changed his personality (to put it respectfully); I have stopped knowing him for 30 years now, as did our other mutual friends.

The CHP are the State's revenue gathering instrument... they do not protect anyone or anything (if they were protecting, they would go after real criminals).

The CHP are also the agents of CARB/BAR... just ask a ricer... and just wait until the State starts enforcing at the individual car/owner level (LT's, intake, heads/cam, tune).

90 mph: in some cases that would definitely be safer, +1.

60 mph in the slow lane: those people didn't read the CA Driver Rule Booklet... and grossly ignorant.

Tailgating: incredibly ignorant.

Coming too close while switching lanes : see Tailgating.

Speaking on handheld phone: bad.

Speaking on handheld phone while not being able to control vehicle (wandering across lanes): extremely ignorant and lacking respect to other roadusers.

Gov't Regulating What/When you Shall Drive:

...that seems funny now, but it's not too far off.

$0.03.
