CHP officer dies. Suspected killer drives a Pontiac.
A CHP officer was killed Sunday, after being hit by a car during a traffic stop.
The collision happened in the Apple Valley area early Sunday morning on the northbound 15 Freeway.
CHP officer Justin McGrory had pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop, and while he was talking to that driver, a dark car coming down the highway sideswiped the officer.
McGrory was airlifted to Saint Mary's Hospital but did not survive.
CHP is now looking for a red 2009 Pontiac that was seen fleeing the scene.
McGrory, 28, is survived by his wife, Kelly, and their three children.
Another CHP officer was struck and killed in a similar incident on June 9 on the 405 Freeway in Palms. Offier Philip Ortiz had just finished a traffic stop of an SUV when a sedan driving on the shoulder slammed into him from behind.
Ortiz was pinned between the two vehicles and died from his injuries on June 22.

Why would you abolish pulling people over for vehicle infractions, when you can have this happen http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...o-county-.html

Question for you Cali people.
We recently started a law here in Texas where you have to change lanes, or slow down to 20 mph if there is an emergency vehicle on the shoulder. I think the fine can run up to about 700 bucks if you fail to do so. Is this a law in Cali too?

I didn't know that.
I do it naturally.
I pull to the side when a emergency vehicle is coming.
When a emergency vehicle is parked on the side of a street or fwy, I simply move one lane to the left and slow my mphs down to 15-20, like a school zone speed.
some people even slow down on the opposite of the fwy when there is a accident on the other side, both sides slow down even when they pull over a car.
