It's really important to get the capacity right. Sounds like you overcharged it just enough to not blow off excess pressure but it can't get the cold side down the right pressure. You need a manifold gauge set to see what the cycle time is and the hot/cold side pressures.

Couple things to check, as mentioned, check the vacuum lines going to and from that little check valve over by the PCM. Any leaks and your AC might not work properly. Also check the vacuum lines that run over to the HVAC controls.
Another thing to check is to actually look at the AC compressor and make sure that your AC clutch is engaging.
And finally, you need to check the under hood fuse blocks and make sure your AC/Cruise fuse is not blown.

well i know the clutch is turning on. havent go tto check anything else yet. with the pressure i emptied the system and then filled it and it would go to a good pressure but i shut the car off and turn it back on and it shoots to max. i will have to check the vacuum lines and stuff after i get the car back from the exhaust shop.

It sounds like you overcharged the system. SoCal01z28 hit it right on the money.
Those DIY AC recharges from the parts store can be ticking time bombs, and even doing it with just the gauges is not 100% accurate. If you want it done to spec, its best to be vacuumed out and recharged by a machine.
