Default Hissing sound from around the muffler. Any ideas??

Well today I decided to take the SS out for a spin and hit some mountain corners. After getting back home from about an hours worth of cornering, I now hear a hissing sound out back around the muffler. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump may be the sound and might be going out. Any ideas??

That would be the pump. How low was the fuel?

Fuel lubicates, cools and blocks some noise from the pump. If the pump is tired or gets hot and/or fuel is low, the pump will whine.

If you doubt the pump, hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see wha the pressure is doing.

... of drive it 'till it dies.

1/2 tank when I left and got back with a little more than a 1/4 tank. The temp was in the low hundreds outside (107F) when I left my house. When I got back home everything about the car was hot. So what you said earlier might explain the reason of the hissing. I'm gonna let the car cool down a little more than start it back up and hope all is well.

Right when u hear that "hissing" sound turn off the car and wait like 5 seconds, turn the ignition to the ON position (engine off) and listen carefully to the noise the pump makes. If it's a whine loud like noise, it's your pump. if it's just a little whine that's normal pump doing it's thing. Do u feel any hesitation when u start to hear the noise?

I don't feel any hestitation at all. I only hear the noise when I'm outside the car or when the car is in the garage.

The speakers on my laptop sucks so I couldn't really hear the noise I was listing for. It was over 100F outside at the time of driving so it may have been the pump. I haven't started up the car yet, but I will today to see if it still makes that sound.

It's gonna go away if it's the pump, it's cooled down so ones it's hot again it's going to start acting up
