anybody have any input on a stalled auto? im still on the fence about doing this swap. The car is gonna be pretty much my daily driver and im wondering is it worth just getting my auto freshened up a bit by a local shop. If i keep the auto and did a small stall would i need to change rear end gears or anytyhing? i have the stock 2.73's

It all depends on preference and what you are using the car for. Stalled autos with the right gears in the rear are fun and is good for drag racing. Some people cant hang with driving a stick shift on a daily basis. So if you're one of those type of people than just fix up the auto. If you find yourself doing more than straight line racing and prefer rowing your own gears, swap over to the M6.

yeah i think its gonna be cheaper for me to just get the auto freshened up, money is pretty tight right now so im talking to sean at top gear motorsports here in az. everyone says hes the best in az for autos.
Az sucks for emissions and since my car is a 94 i have to pass the sniffer and visual so i cant really mod like id like to. I probably wont keep the car very much longer. Just gonna keep it until i get a better job and can either afford a clean ss or ws6 ls1 car or take the leap to a corvette.
thanks for all the info guys

Honestly man I have tossed this idea around a lot. Keep the car auto unless you will do it yourself, and your best bet is to piece everything together, don't waste money on a stock master cylinder, get a tick master cyl, get a freshened up t56, new clutch and so on. My recommendation is just buy a t56 car and have both, a consistent fast car and a fun car. 6 speed cars are fun to drive and I want one, but it sure is fun beating almost every stick car because of driver error or not dumping the clutch or missing a gear or any other ricer excuse lol.

haha yeah im waiting to hear back from sean at top gear for a price on freshening up my a4. The car like i said will just be a dd for now until i sell it down the road for a ls1 ws6 or SS, or if i got the cash ill get a vette. Hopefully it wont be too much to freshen up my a4 cause money is tight but the cars been down for 3 months now and i miss it.

so sean at top gear just got back to me, does $1600 sound about average for a upgraded trans build with just stock stall and nothing to special. I was thinking it would be less than that since ill be just bringing him my trans and ill be installing it myself. I emailed him back to check to see if its still that price when im doing that stuff. I didnt think it would be that much.
