Default OBD1 & earlier CALI cars required to smog every year?

I just read an earlier thread on this forum regarding CALI OBD1 cars will be required to smog every year?
The last that I saw on this or anything similar, there is a rider attached to a bill every year that would require Cali cars 15 years and older back to the end of the rolling calendar ('76 or so?) to smog every year. This could endanger my '87 turbo Buick.

"You also will have to have all monitors completed, right now I believe 1 can be incomplete. Also everything obd1 has to be smogged every year."

Anything after 1975 must be smogged.

Yep, I believe starting next year everything 95 and older has to be smogged every year. Then 96 and newer the smog restrictions get easier.

I'm questioning whether something has changed the smog requirements from every 2 years to every year on cars made from '75 & up until ??

Any idea where this requirement came from?
As stated in my previous post, almost every year for the last 5 or 6 years they have tried to pass this and it failed to pass, but the last year they attached it to a bill that the house ran out of time to do. Unless this came from this new AB 2289 Assembly Bill which is chartered and becomes effective 1 JAN 2012 or 1 JAN 2013, don't remember which.

Probably a change made by CARB. I would suggest looking into their website. Newer vehicles may have it easier but they are trying to get rid of all the old cars on the road. I believe the amount of nox allowed has been cut in half as well, oh so i heard.

I cannot find it on Assembly Bill 2289 ghat is going into effect 01 JAN 2012 or 01 JAN 2013. Nox was cut about a year ago, at least on turbo Buicks and maybe everything. Yes, it will get more and more difficult to pass, but it will kill quite a few people when they do require every year smog testing on '95 and earlier.

I feel you man. Paying every two years already sucks as it is. Kinda forces guys to play with newer cars but still sucks if youve already put money into and like an older car. Thats Cali for you. The birth of hot rodding and now trying to be the death of it.

I was just planning on having a major mod build done on my '09 Cad CTS-V (Headers, CAI, heads, small cam, lower pulley, meth, ECM & TCM tune) & now I think that I am going to change plans on it and just do a CAI for right now. As it is, I have more than enough fun at smog time with the '87 turbo Buick.

Supposedly in 2013 they are going to eliminate the sniffer test for 96 and newer cars.
