Default Anyone race a bike??

I was just wondering if anyone ever raced a crotch rocket and won or came close to winning... Here in Palm Springs we have a bunch of Biker boyz that think they are the poo. Its starting to get old.

I beat a R6,and come close to my friends R1.He's still kinda a rookie driver though.I run a 12.0 et.So if your running close to that or better you will stand a chance depending on the guy riding the bike.Make sure you have some good tires though.I run mt streets on the street everyday to make sure even if I run up against a faster car or bike,I still have a chance.

Nah not really,
The literbikes are so hard to keep the nose down on that they really are not as fast as everyone thinks unless it is a VERY above average rider, a personal friend of mine has a GSXR1000 with some mods and has been dyno tuned and the rider is pretty skilled and the best he could muster at Fontana was a 11.20 @ 122. So the reality is they are not as fast as they think they are, I schooled a R6 locally with my SS with 450WHP a while back, it was funny to see him looking over at me a bunch of times to see how much I was pulling on him and this was from a roll, so he actually should have the advantage!

yeah, I know what you mean, back in '88, I had a lot of buddies with bikes. We would race a lot, and they were close races. But back then, I think the fastest bike that anyof them had was a GSX 750?

I had a 1000gsxr pull up next to me at a light and start revvin at me, so I said what the hell, I'll go for it. I didn't rev back at him and caught him on the light. I think he was suprised when I slammed 2nd right next to him, then he walked away from me, but I felt good about it. I know he was thinkin "damn that car was quick".

600's and 1k's are all 10 second bikes now. do a few mods and a good tune get a pro rider on and he'll pull it to the mid 9's

oh, and it seems like a lot of the riders that pick on cars and look for those races, cant ride for ****, or are newbies...

Exactly like I said, but you have to understand I have seen many bikes run at the drags and they usually cant break faster than high 10's even the Busa's can't even break lower than 10's so for what its worth out here, there are almost NO 9 sec bikes unless they are full on drag machines with wheelie bars. That seems to be the breaker they wheelie too easily, hell my CBR954RR wheelies with me sitting on the bars practically in second gear and I can clutch it pretty good! (remember 2nd is like 80MPH!)

A good friend of mine has been racing bikes for years, infact he's 53. His current bike is a busa (Japanese for perigrin falcon) that he extended, runs it every wed and fri in street class (dot tires and no bars). I believe his best time here at Bandimere is a 9.62 at 147.

Like I said they CAN be fast but only if they are "drag" bikes with extended swingarms, and/or wheelie bars, etc. Nice E.T. though!

I have seen tons of bikes run at lacr. The busa's go around 10.3-4 up at lacr with the extended swing arm. Haven't seen one bike that isn't a full drag bike hit 9's. I have raced a handful of bikes and kept up. Never pulled the crap out of one.

It really depends on the bike and the rider, they can be fast but most of the time they are only kind of fast?!

LOL, rule is if you aren't sure don't bet on it!

I ran a R6 2 months ago from a roll. We actually ran twice: The 1st time was from a stop. As soon as the light turned green, I just saw him pull from me like a bat outta hell. I just sat in the same spot smokin' the tires and going nowhere. When we came to the next light, the cocky biotch just shook his head. I told him, "let's do it from a roll". He agreed. The light turned green and we both cruised up to 35 before I told him, "whenever you're ready". He immediately floored and at the same time I heard him gun it.....I did. I immediately stopped him from getting a jump on me and slowly walked from him. I took it up to about 110 before shutting it down. At that point I had a 2 car distance between us.

The R1 I raced was not a new one.It is a 2001 I think, neither was the R6,not sure year but didn't look new, maybe a few years old.It depends alot on the drivers.Like I said I didn't beat the r1 but it didn't pull from me very much.In a couple weeks I am going to run him @ the track.I will have a few more goodies by than to see if I can't take him.Remember he's never been to the track on the bike,so he will not run the full potential of the bike.Plus I've won some bracket racing and is very good @ the tree!Wish me luck
