Default Phoenix F & Y Bodies FTMFW! *Week 11 - 7/31/06*

Another week, another thread.

Peter, take your car to Chris' shop. Kerry's C/Kar C/Kare, PM him, he'll tell you where it's at.

I just f'd around with my guage cluster. Got the fuel guage to read right, and the temp guage should be a bit better now untill I get the AutoMeter installed. The oil guage is just plain dead though. Is the cluster on your Formula still good, and is the odometer info kept in the cluster or PCM? If both answers are yes, I'll buy it off you.

Haha, well one day when I have copius ammounts of cash lying around I'd like to get it fixed. I'm in no hurry to spend any money on getting it fixed right now, just would have been cool if I could have fixed it easily.

Josh- There is no preload on the lifters, tis all hyd. I double checked the tq specs after it ran for a while and it was fine. The noise that I'm hearing is a loud metallic click coming from #5 or #7. Still open for ideas on what it may be. My best guess right now is there is something wrong with the valves that are in the heads he bought.

What about the length of the pushrods? He went with stock lenght, don't some people get a different lenght PR when they get a big cam?

Wouldn't it be neat if it was the valves hitting the pistons???

BTW...I know they're a hydraulic lifter, you still need to preload those ones though...Try snugging them up a tad bit more and see how it makes out...

Try the search button too...Search for lifter preload

Maybe? Springs get lazy after WOT and valves start to close later. hmmm... maybe an option. Will search for pre load.

Dammit the Snap-on catalogue costs money.... You'd think fo rthe price of their tools, they'd make enough to mail out free catalogues.

if his heads have been milled then he might need shorter pushrods. If not he should be using the 7.4" length. Also, that is a fairly big cam. If the heads have been milled it might have piston to valve clearance problems. just throwin out some **** u guys probably already thought of. good luck with it.

heads were definitely not milled...Pushrod length is fine...I say preload, or just get used to it...Haven't heard it though
