The $60,000 a gallon is just the specially developed UV ray blocking clear coat that is sprayed on the exposed carbon fiber parts, ie. front splitter and rocker panels. This is the only clear coat at this time that can protect the carbon fiber from the sun with out it turning purple sorta speak. GM is said to use it sparingly.
