alright your car is not slower on the highway the reason it feels faster down low is because your already going at a lower speed and chances are you are doing the right mph for it to downshift, by downshifting its gonna take off and feel faster. my car is a built A4 also and if you floor it at 35 mph it downshift and goes sideways, but if you floor it at 40 mph it will not downshift and it feels slow. see what im saying ? wham bam there it is

It's because the Vig 3600 your using isn't very efficient unlocked... When you nail it from60-70-80 the converter is unlocked and slips quite a bit. A Yank PT4000/4400 would cure the problem due to there higher efficiency of the PT series. The PT series from a 70MPH roll pulls insane... A SS3600-4000 is typically alot closer to our Vig 3600 in terms of efficiency and performance from a roll.
Back in 2004 or so John@TSP reported he lost gained 44RWHP by locking up his Vig 4000 on the dyno. He vowed he would never use the converter again because it just gave up too much power unlocked.
Gears may gain you a tenth at best but your money would be better spent on switching to a Yank PT4400

yea, autos are only good from their certain spots. Seems like they have to be at < 25mph for a first gear downshift and < 55mph for a 2nd gear downshift. Other then those two spots they are dogs from rolls, no matter what converter. You have a really nice converter
