What an Interestingly fucked up, but fantastic Friday What a day What a day
So i get off work at around 4 pm to go home, figure ill beat the traffic a bit, get a good parking space, relax, maybe head out to the bobs meet tonight.
So im cruisin down the 90, makin for my exit (centinela) and all of a sudden i hear, a rather loud rattle, and then a very loud scrapping sound! OH GOD what is that, i instinctivly reach for the ignition and flip it off as quickly as humanly possible incase its something to do with the engine itself. I pull off to the side and LEAP out of the car and realize that the sound didnt stop after i turned the engine off so it must be something else. as i walk around the car, to my utter disbelief i see my exhaust sitting on the ground under the car
god dammit! i just got the car out of the body shop 48 hours ago
so i figure well ill rehang it myself, and drive to a shop to get it fixed proper hahha, i grab a wrag and try to lift the exhaust, and it just wont go! not to mention i keep burning my hand to **** hhaha and there are thorns all over the ground, just NOT my day!
Lookin around i find a long piece of wood, and slide it up the tailpipe using it for leverage i manage to get the mufflers rehung at the rear of the car, WOOHOO! hop in, start it, and i sound like a ******* prostock dragster hahahahaha
Here i am, im Los angeles, a nicer part of town thank god, with a prostock street car. i turn it off and figure ill look through my nav, for a muffler shop, and a cop pulls up, checks on me, unfortunatly he was a new officer on that beat and he didnt know, so he went on about his day, and i sat there tryin to figure out what to do. Freeway service patrol rolls up next and tells me there is a line of shops just up the streeet that i could probably get the car fixed at. So i start her up, and roll, the look on the freeway service guys face was ****** HILARIOUS! hahaha combination of WTF and ZOMG!
ok, this is getting ******* long, sorry! haha, so any way i head off to the 8 or so shops lining the road tryin to find one, and every last one was being a *****, saying they were closed, or closing, or just didnt want to do it, and so on, even when i offered 200 CASH to just slide the hangers on and slide the header pipe back on the x pipe! but no, my last resort, PepBoys (
) almost 5 miles away, im soooooo going to jail!
so i pull out onto the street, make it all of 1500 feet before LAPD pulls me over
oh fuch oh **** im going to jail! instead of pulling behind me he pulls up next to me, asks whats wrong, and i say that my exhaust came off, and i was trying to get it fixed. he nods and asks where im going, to which i reply pepboys. now here is where it gets interesting, the officer says, "Ok I will follow you to make sure you get there ok! and nothing falls off!!!!!" WTF!!!!! a ******* POLICE ESCORT!!! ROFL
any way, he gets me to pep boys, waves me on, and goes on about his merry way! how ******* cool right! well pep boys decided they dont do exhaust and refused to even look at the car, even $500 cash wouldnt change their mind! so here we go again, i hop in my prostocker, set off every alarm in 5 block radius layin rubber, and pull back out onto sepulveda, where i had seen a midus!
make it all ove 100 feet, and LAPD #2 pulls me over, oh god oh god im going to jail! officer again asks what happened, i tell him, now mind you im not even getting to my sob story of an afternoon, before he offers to once again escort me down to midas! WTF!!! takes me down sepulveda, and goes as far as to stop oncoming traffic long enough for me to get across!
jesus what an afternoon, of course Midas gave me the same story, they were too busy, and couldnt help BUT they would lend me anything they could to help! at this time the older mechanic of the shop comes over, says you know im not gona get paid for this, but ill stay late and help you out, to which i reply, ive got 100 bucks CASH just for saying that! he attempted to turn me down, to which i responded, you just made my day! 100 bucks is NOTHING! compared to that!
guy spends a half hour, fixes it ENTIRELY even replaces a hanger that aparently broke, and bent another one back into place.
now mind you its not perfect, it sits a lil low on the passanger side, but it was driveable again and i wouldnt get pulled over again by LAPD!! hahahahahaha
any way i have to say, todays events really really changed my thoughts on LAPD, helpful, courtious, and even though they could have easily given me some seriously expensive tickets they chose to just HELP!

sorry for the wall of text i hope its a good read haha i still might head out to bobs but i dont know im pretty exhausted now! haha
Clifs: a broken exhaust turns from problematic, to nightmarish, to 2 seperate police escorts to shops to get it fixed! finaly get it fixed by a fantastic older mechanic who just wanted to help, paid him 100 bucks for his troubles

haha, ya sometimes you think they are going to be ****** and are plesantly surprised. I do think it make a difference what side of town your on, but a lot of it is their perception of your attitude as too how they treat you and any preconceived notions they have.

Haha thanks guys, yea was one of those days that you just feel like the world is out to get you, and it all changes with one or 2 persons going out of their way to help.
honestly, the cops, and the mechanic at midas both just made my day, i was starting to wonder if i was going to have to tow the car back home and tow it again today to a shop, and instead, between the helpful lapd, and the mechanic i drove home
just goes to show that while we all have had that ***** cop, it appears as though there are more than a couple good ones left out there.
