I agree with the "pay to play" mentality for the most part, but prices are climbing way too fast. They have gone up easily more than 1 dollar here in California in about 1 year. You can check averages at fuelgaugereport.com. The only thing I've done differently is changed my driving habits. I used to get about 200-220 miles to a little under 1/4 tank with about 60/40 highway/city and now I've gotten about 260-280 miles. It also helps to get up earlier and not be late everywhere you go.

I just hope prices level out some and we don't have a jump to $6 in the near future.

When I said I am getting a motorcycle when I get back, I am not getting rid of the Camaro, just not going to be driving as much. Since shortly after I got her, I wanted something to get to and from work, but just wasn't able to afford it at the time. I drive about 64 miles round trip every day just to work and back. She only has 63K on her, and I want to keep the miles down and use her as a weekend cruiser/fun car. Probably still drive her to work once in a while. I also get sick and tired of having to park it in a lot full of idiots where someone is going to back into it or door ding me.

They might. I think HI has the highest spikes though. Gas here alway goes up for big holidays.

4th of July
Memorial Day
New Years

Its ridiculous to see a 20 cents per gallon price different from one side of the Island to another. Its only 14 miles from Kaneohe to Pearl Harbor and then another 12-15 to Barber's point or whatever.

Cost me $109 for 22 gallons to fill up my truck after I had to almost empty the tank to put the lowering kit on. Had to pull the tank out.

Yeah, LA is definitely more expensive than that. Surprising, I would have though Hawaii would be more expensive.

Yeah don't forget though, CA is liberal as hell so they tax and regulate the hell out of it. Can't speak for how liberal HI is, but CA has been it's own little socialst country for years...

I don't know if this is the same company, but when we had a few gas spikes a few years ago, I heard about a similar company, and it wasn't a scam.

They buy on the futures market, if I remember correctly. One downside is the large initial investment for gas you have yet to use. For example, you buy 1000 gallons now, that's $4500.

The only downside is the locations are usually packed, as I found out today.
