Default EFI Drag Racing (Stroker396?)

Back when Carlsbad was open, they used to have bracket racing for EFI cars only, with a 12 second and faster class, and a 13 second and slower class. Is there interest in doing this again, perhaps at California Speedway or Famoso Raceway? Or should we just join the Pacific Street Car Association?

Obviously we'd have to rent the track (this is where Stroker396 comes in), but if we could get 150+ cars for the L.A. Invasion we could get more than that if prize money was involved.

California Dragway will be open to private track rental days in Nov & Dec.

I have a hectic trade show schedule during that time, so not sure I could find the time to organize something for this year.

I will be at Irwindale tomorrow.

Its a lot of cars, but your guaranteed runs. Like minimum 4 runs per day each class. But your car has to be consistent if you plan on racing more than twice on sunday.

Yes you have to be a member of the PSCA to race. http://www.pscaracing.com/

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER. You have to fill out one extra paper and it doesn't cost anything extra!

My apologies, I thought you had to sign up with PSCA.

So, Ryne, are you willing to put up the track rental fee?

Ok, if we want to make this happen, I need some interest. I talked to my boss at Manley and she said the big boss wont just hand me the track deposit fee. I would need to show him some commitment first, so he knows he is getting some good advertising for his money. I would also need to talk to other sponsors as well and I need to provide them the same info.

I need to know if you would come race no matter what, if you would race if it was at Famoso (Bakersfield) only or Fontana only, if you would race if it was heads-up only or if bracket racing is ok, if you want test'n'tune, if $50 a car is ok but $75 is too much, that kind of thing. Fontana's schedule shows an open date in the middle of December, but they havent posted their January schedule yet. Famoso doesnt have anything posted for December or January. I would prefer this to be a late-model race for EFI cars only (or early cars with EFI conversions), but there are a lot more carbs out there and shutting them out would cut down on our car counts. Then again, we had 150 cars for the LA Invasion, and if we get the Mustang camp and the Viper camp we have a potential for more than 200 cars.

I was the instigator for the 2001 NorCal vs SoCal shootout at Famoso so I have been down this road before. But I dont have anywhere to host a website this time. I would need some help in that area, as well.

Thank you for reading.

I know what you mean.

Unfortunately, the big boss at Manley is back east in New Jersey, so he wont see the benefit of sponsoring a drag race out here in California. Unless I can show him I have a lot of interest and a lot of cars show up. That would be true for any sponsor, they want to see a lot of interest returned for their money spent.

So, if we want to get this to happen this year, or early next year, we need to spread the word. Let the Mustang guys know, the Viper guys know, the Grand National guys know. Heck, even the imports.

This is what they do at Englishtown in NJ, and I'd like to do something similar out here:
