Enter the Rumormill: 2012 C7 Corvette ZR1 with twin-turbo V6

Dual clutch gearboxes? Nope. Mid-engine? Nope. How about losing a few cylinders? Heresy! Before all of the V8 loyalists get their panties in a bunch, remember that you can do a lot with a twin-turbo six. While the Nissan GT-R is the latest example of huge pressure-induced horsepower from a six, the Jaguar XJ220 and past Noble efforts have proven the engine configuration more than adequate. While we don't have any problem with the idea of a high-boost 3.6-liter direct-injection sixer, we know that there's still plenty of room for a range-topping V8 engine and we feel confident that America's preeminent sportscar will soldier on with one -- at the very least -- as an option.

It'll NEVER happen. Since 1955 the vette has ALWAYS had a V8, come on....... After 50+yrs of tradition do you think they would really take a step down and throw in a V6?
The Vette only had a I-6 for the first two years of it's life, then the designers figured it out, a sports car should have a V8.

There are some positives to a diesel, I'm sure the same reason a TTv6 is being considered a diesel could fit the slot as well.
Here's one :

I doubt it will happen. I just picked up a corvette mag about the ZR1 and they mentioned that the ZR! started out as a Turbo car but was quickly scrapped when the car burned to the ground and decided to go with a Supercharger instead. They also like the fact the the supercharger did not have any lag compared to the turbo.

In a book I read, they said that while still deciding on which engine type to use, they did a double blind test drive with all the head honchos. One car was equipped with a pushrod engine and one with a overhead cam engine. After the tests they concluded that both engines made great power, but one seemed to have more power right off the bat or more 'snap' as you could call it. The winner was the pushrod engine.
