Look around for a used SV650, its a great bike to learn on, and they hold thier value very well. Plus its a V-twin so it is not as peaky and makes good low end power. When you get comfortable riding, you can sell it easily without losing much if any money.

I read alot of post, but this moved fast so i didnt get to all of em...

I say buy used... LOTS of people buy them new, put 1-2k miles on them... then they or their wives get scared and sell them. You can pick em up cheap if you've got the cash, as most loan companies wont do used bikes.

Definately take the motorcycle saftey class! Get good insurance. And wear your damn gear... dont be a SKIN CRAYON!

Ive had my 04 R6 since Valentines day last year. I love the bike. im 190lbs 6', and its pretty comfortable. The 600 is definately not slow... change the gearing on it a little, keep it well maintained and she'll scream. Takin turns on the bike is awsome. And it has great gas mileage! 40+ mpg... quickly makes up the gear.

For a DD, you've gotta expect everyone to do the worst... that way your never dissapointed. And dont be an idiot, you'll still wreck. But hopefully you'll ride another day.

Haha this thread is pretty good. Im actually going to be getting a bike by the beginning of next year. I found a killer dealer on a 2002 gsx-r 600 that a friend is selling for $3400! Or my other friend is selling his 98 gsx-r 600 for $1700?

I saw an 02 gsx-r, at mountain. It was like 5grand, but it was the fresh blue and white color, with the white wheels. I love the way that one looks. Is that a good bike?

edit- ls1stunna the blue and white one looks fresh...

06 750 $6000 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/mcy/861111226.html
05 GSXR 600 $4800 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/860657562.html
04 GSXR 600 $4800 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/860375899.html But on this last one he says he's never dropped it and i call bullshit. The lower fairings would not be primer black if he hadn't dropped it.

a 600 should have plenty of power the newer ones will trap mid 120's stock and high 120's with a slip on and tune in the 1/4.

120?? Are you serious? newer 600's will top out close to 160mph completely stock. My 03 gsxr 600 was even capable of these speeds.

z28gsxr:
im going to be taking the class at CoC whenever i can. but in your opinion fo you think a 600cc is a good choice as a first streetbikes? cuz if i could my eyes are on a 01-03 gsxr 600, best looking year of the gsxr in my point of view. but what other 600cc bike would you think is better overall for under $4500.
