Exclamation Need some help here guys

I'm looking at trading a bike and a truck for a Camaro to this guy on another site, but I think hes too high on his price..I mean I just sold my Z for pennies on the dollar what I had into it....but I dunno you tell me. Here's the low down.

1998 Z-28
California car, no rust
6 Speed new clutch and slave and flywheel
SS Chrome rims, SS hood Painted to match (rims not on in pics)
Stock other then Full Borla Cat back and LS6 Intake
Leather T-Tops
119000 on the car
40K on a new GM crate motor (supposedly had it in for work and the dealer left the radiator cap off and popped the motor and replaced it with a new GM crate)
Whats it worth

you really think so? NADA is like 6800 and kbb is like 5600 or around there plus the econemy the way it is? I was thinking maybe 7500 IF he really has the paperwork for the new(er) motor...? Figure yeah it has a hood and better rims but we all know you never get back what you put into it...

Waiting on the VIN right now, and yeah thats what I said, I'd want to see paperwork from the dealer saying they put a new motor in with the vin on the paper. Now what if he cannot produce, whats the car worth?

Good heavens! If no paperwork I wouldn't even offer. If you must, no more than $5,000. That would be absolute top dollar because you will be sinking HUGE $$$ into that thing in no time. When it comes time for you to sell you will get ZIP back. You have 'been there, done that'. Learn from the past.

So true, yeah i was thinkin maybe 5000 if no paperwork maybe 5500ish if paperwork, i mean it aint like a stock ls1 motor is very expensive these day, ive seen stock cube forged 347 shorts for 1500.......he can keep it for 9K Sharp car but not worth the dough. Thanks guys

He has to produce the Carfax for the car VIN. As for the engine, just look at the number stamped on the block and you should be able to tell if it's a crate engine. See this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ng-my-ls1.html

It won't be numbers matching to start with, and you should be able to tell if it's a junkyard special. He has a new hood on that thing too to go with the engine, makes you want to see if there was ever a front end collision. Without paperwork walk away.
