Default Is It Worth It? - 01 Camaro SS ($8000) vs 99 Formula ($5900)

I am looking at two cars and am having a hard time deciding which is the better deal. I have always heard that the 01-02 cars are the best Fbodys to go with. I also understand that the SS and Trans Am cars hold a little higher of a "premium" than Z28 and Formulas. Both of these cars have around the same mileage (96k) and no serious mods. Both cars are also "OBO."

Please feel free to chime in and lend any and all advice possible...thanks!

If both have the same miles, go with the one that's cheapest and/or looks best to you.

Is there something visibly wrong with either?

Any more info on either car? I'd go with the SS at that price if there isn't anything terribly wrong with it

That ss is worth it all day, But I would try to get it cheap as possible so that when you want to sell it you won't lose alot of $$

I wouldn't own a formula unless I got it dirt cheap (sub $5000) with low miles (under 70k).

I think they look horribly bland and would need to invest too much $$$ back to give it T/A treatment

I actually think the Formula looks MUCH nicer than the Trans Am without that fugly body kit and huge wing. I think that with a drop and set of wide 17" TT2 rims the Formula looks pretty sweet ...but I still like the Camaro looks overall

WOW! Some serious information is needed before an educated guess can be made. Histories of the cars would be a starter. Maintenance? How many owners and who were they? Young dudes that burned the hell out of the car or a 'one owner' middle aged guy that drove it to work? Clean titles? Carfax issues? Does either need things, like repairs, or tires, or ??? The list is endless if you want serious answers. Don't worry about 'premiums' for these high mileage cars. It does not apply in these instances. You want the best car for the buck. Don't worry about answers involving looks either. Those are personal choices for you to make.

Assuming each car is in similar condition with similar history...

Even though this is highly unlikely (identical maintenance and histories) I would take the Formula in a heartbeat and save myself $2,100. An LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1. Again, I'll state no 'premiums' involved with cars in the 100k miles range unless a really 'rare' car. Not a factor here.
