Default 1999 Hugger Orange SS

Im looking into purchasing a 1999 Hugger Orange SS with an M6, TTops, and tan leather with 63k.

How many 1999 HOSS cars were made?

also whats the estimated value on something like this? the cars completely factory and in very good condition overall with no problems

Dont exactly remember the numbers but its something like 1300-1400 made, half were SS. You'll have to do some digging to find out how many m6, ttop, color interior, whatever you want to say 1 of 13 kind of bs.

Bluebook doesnt care about how few were made, its still only $8k car or so. I bought mine 3 yrs ago and couldnt touch an SS for less than $12k. Stupid money for just hood, spoiler, and emblems. Bought mine then for $8500, got a hood this winter, and ebay spoiler soon, I'll have an SS clone without having to spend another $4k+ to have an "actual" ss.

Good luck on your search, I get compliments on the color all the time. However, Ive never been pulled over more than any other car Ive ever had. I even have an orange sportbike and dont get harassed with that!

Dude a quick simple google search could give you your answer in seconds

1999

The following are build counts for the 1999 model year Camaro for United States retail and fleet orders.

A total of 42,098 Camaros were built for the United States.
Automatics - 29,840 - 70.9%
6-speeds - 7,308 - 17.8%
5-speeds - 4,950 - 11.8%

Colors

#1 41U Black - 8,742 - 20.8%
#2 11U Pewter - 8,665 - 20.6%
#3 81U Red - 7,798 - 18.5%
#4 10U White - 5,276 - 12.5%
#5 28U Navy - 4,974 - 11.8%
#6 13U Silver - 2,385 - 5.7%
#7 79U M. Teal - 1,482 - 3.5%
#8 99U H. Orange - 1,402 - 3.3%
#9 20U B. Blue - 1,117 - 2.7%
#10 31U B. Green - 217 - 0.4% (dropped in Oct. '98)
#11 44U Maroon - 45 - 0.1% *
#12 63U Gold - 5 - 0.0% **

* A total of 45 1999 Monterey Maroon cars were built for the GM fleet in order to allow the color to be available at start-of-production '00. A separate list will be provided at a later date with exact models/trims for these cars. They were a mix of V6 coupes, convertibles, and Z28s. None were SS and none had Y3F Sport Appearance Package. All were driven by GM employees and most were disposed of thru the GM auction program. . . which means GM dealers would have bought them for resale to the public.

** A total of 5 Z28 Coupes were built in the 1999 model year in color 63U Sport Gold metallic. While Sport Gold was discontinued near the end of the model run in 1998, a contract had been signed between Chevrolet and Days Inn for a sweepstakes where the final prize was a Sport Gold Z28 Coupe. While the sweepstakes ran in the spring and summer of '98, the contract specified a 1999 Z28. Thus Ste. Therese built 5 1999s for this sweepstakes. Two units were given away, the other three were driven by GM executives and then disposed of through the GM auction system.

UPDATE 3-22-00 - One of the 5 1999 Sport Gold metallic Z28 coupes has been located in the Chicago area, severely damaged with 17,396 miles on the odometer.

Although the color might make the car more appealing to some buyers I doubt you will find anyone who is going to pay too much over the market value of the car because of the color. Especially with 63k miles, at that point although its still low miles, its in way way "collector status" miles. With that being said KBB and NADA don't always accurately show the market value of these cars.

If you are thinking 'collector value', forget about it. Not with 60,000+ miles. Get it because you want it to drive it. Now if you want to buy it and put it away for 20+ years with no additional miles, maybe you will have something. Yes, it will be very unusual to have an orange, tan interior, M6 car and you will turn a lot of heads, BUT the value will not increase overall (especially in pricing guides) except to those that just have to have it. I would pay an extra $1,000 for a tranny and color combo that I certainly loved. The value of the car you describe in excellent condition should fetch about $10,000. Again, if you LOVED IT and had to have it, pay $11,000. It would be worth it.
