1997 Camaro SS
I also got it to $6500 with a new set of richmond 3:73 gears, 58mm bbk throttle body, granatelli mass air flow sensor, and the original shifter (has short throw on it now). Only mods on the car is a BBK under drive pulley. The parts listed are new in box.

I'd like to know the answer before laying out top $$. $6,500 would be an awful lot for this LT1 with that mileage. I don't know the mods cost so I can't help you there. I wouldn't touch the car for anything over $5,000 as I have a feeling that car needs things. If you lay out $6,500 and need to add $1,500 into it over the next 6 months you would have real trouble getting anything close to $8,000. That would be a real hit to the wallet if you needed to sell. Perhaps a $3,000 - $4,000 hit. Ouch! Good luck either way, if you buy it or if you continue the search.** Look at the car (an LS1 T/A) that Shuck is trying to sell in the thread just below this one (at the moment anyway). I don't know the car at all or him but his car sure seems to be light years ahead of this one and for money that is very close. One weekend of cheap motels and fast food to pick it up can be worth a lot.

I don't know it being driven only 8,000 miles in the past makes a difference for the better or not. The drive seat does have a rip. I'll upload some higher res. pictures and you might think it's in better shape, I don't know.

BBK Power-Plus Series Throttle Body (58 mm) - $329
Granatelli Motor Sports Mass Airflow Sensor - $289
Hurst Shifter - $193
Richmond 3:73:1 gears : $197
Total: $1008
That's $1008 in parts that I'd end up putting in it eventually. I figured that's $5500 for the car, or $500 for the parts, depends which way you look at it. That's not including the BBK under drive pulley (~$100) and hurst comp short throw ($189-200). The parts are always lower used of course.
Lastly, KBB on the vehicle is like $5600, NADA is about $8000 (don't think NADA knows what it's talking about when it comes to SS LT1s).

Im in the process of looking for a new car too, and one thing I have noticed is people who have LT1's listed in the 6-8k range don't really have luck selling them unless there is something special about the car. Same thing with people with LS1 cars trying to sell them for 10-14k in average condition with over 100k. They just seem to sit. I know its hard but I would wait until you find the right car at the right price, the last 2 LS1's I've bought had around 100k and I got them for between 6-8k just have to be patient.
