Should I buy this 2000 Camaro SS?
I found a 2000 Camaro SS with 122,000 miles on it. For some reason it has an SLP sticker on the door that's really faded. (Not sure if this means it's an SLP car) Also, it has SLP long tube headers and catback with the SLP quad tips out the back. It also has the chrome 17inch Zr1 SLP rims in great condition. Paint is in decent condition and a dent is on the side that would need fixing. Tear in one of the leather seats i would need to fix. I would fix all these things and a paint job would be in the future...The older gentleman claims it's an SLP car and also has a 3:73 installed by SLP. Not sure if i believe all of this, but it does have an SLP sticker on the door that looks old.
Here is my point...Is the car even worth it? I got him down to $5500.
The car runs really good and sounds great. Only annoying sound is a pulley making that squeaking noise, but that's a cheap fix.
Will this car hold any value because of the miles and what it is? I don't need a car. This would just be sitting in the garage and i would fix it up slowly. But, if I'm going to lose money on this i don't see the point in buying it...
Honest advice, i just don't want to make a mistake and never be able to sell it, lol.
Let me know if you guys need the VIN to check if it's SLP, or whatever. By the way, i went to GM and gave them the VIN and it is a true SS.

Search is your friend. Look for code WU8 on the drivers door sticker, indicates true SS. Then look for Y2Y code, indicates that SLP did additional mods (exhaust, etc). Those mods then appear on the SLP sticker either on the driver or passenger door seal. If it says WU8, then pull out your checkbook...

So apparently this is a good deal to everyone...
Well, what exactly is an SLP SS then? Would this classify as one since it has the SLP additional sticker and possibly a Y2Y code?
I've seen SLP SS for sale before. Is that what this car would be?

As for the deal on the car, I'd say you're missing out if you don't buy it. You're getting a good price on that SS. Looks like it needs a little TLC from the pics but it's got over 100k miles and it's 11 years old, it's expected. It's got big potential, I would buy it and begin to restore it if I were you. Like I said, that's a good price he's willing to let it go for, I would for sure take advantage of it.

Write down the VIN and call SLP. They will tell you all you need to know. They can tell what mods if any that they done when the car was delivered to them. I called them before I bought my Firehawk, and they were very helpful. By the way, if it's a true SS (after you talk with SLP) sounds like a great price. Don't know about the 3:73's though, I do know they put auburn diffs in some, but don't know if they altered the ratio. SLP can tell you though.

I went to GM and gave them the VIN and they told me it was a real SS. So I'm not worried about that.
The only thing I thought was weird is the autocheck that told me about any accidents said it was a 2000 z28? I wonder why it would say that, but GM told me it had the wu8 code for a true ss. I'll go look at the car in the morning and bring cash. If I see wu8 on the door I'll buy it...I will update tomorrow. Thanks guys
