Default 2006 GTO Worth?

I have just started looking for cars and a local car has caught my eye, a 2006 Brazen Orange GTO with 34,500 miles and a 6 spd manual. The owner claims 'like new' condition. The only mods are coated long tube headers, SLP Loudmouth II Exhaust, K&N CAI, and a Diablo Sport Tuner.

His current asking price is $19,000. Do you guys think the car is worth this? If I go check it out, is there anything I should keep an eye on? I have never looked at the GTO's before. To save you the trip, KBB is $20,700, Edmunds is $16,200.

I was thinking taking the Edmunds price, add in the used value of the aftermarket parts, and end up with a value of around $17,500 being a fair price, does this sound accurate?

I appreciate the feedback, I have no experience with the GTO's, just F-bodies.

Aftermarket parts do not add any value to a vehicle.

Sounds like a pretty fair price to me. But I am no expert.

I think 19000 is a good fair price for that car. BOM are sexy as hell and to find one that is a m6 with low miles is a steal...

Thanks for the thoughts! Any more out there?

I am going to contact the guy and set up an appointment to check it out this week. I'll post up the results...

I purchased an 05 not too long ago. It has the exact aftermarket parts you mentioned in your ad. Unless you were going to add these yourself, they add no value to the car, in fact if the owner does not have the stock parts and you wanted a stock vehicle it can potentially decrease the value of the car, especially if you need to pass strict emissions in a particular area.

The manual and brazen orange are rarer, so he will want more $ for the car. You can always quote a particular "worth" evaluation with the car, but do so in person with the cash in hand. It makes for a more legitimate seller incentive.

Otherwise your "worth" is different from my "worth" everyday.

I believe your $17,500 is a reasonable 'offer'. He may reject it but he is in a limited market for that kind of $$ and here is why. The mods turn off about half the buyer's market who want unmolested 'stock' examples. Also many 'lookers' don't want a manual. That negates a healthy section of potential buyers. The mods generally attract younger lookers who don't mind what has been done to the GTO. This segment generally has less money in many instances. This means that he can't get top $$ for his car unless he gets quite fortunate. Yes, the color is appealling but doesn't equate to a serious premium. If this car is Carfax friendly, the title is clear, and he is the 1st or 2nd owner, then offer that $17,500. Best of luck!
