Default 99 Camaro SS Value

My dad finally retired his '99 Camaro SS, or rather it retired on him. He's been driving it daily here in Northern NJ since it was new (blizzaks in the winter). A head gasket finally went on it at 150k miles. Body is shot, interior is mostly shot. It has all of the original SLP parts that can be refinished (hood, rims and wing). It's a 6-speed car and ran fine until the head gasket thing. Red with a white interior. He asked me to ask the Interwebs for a ballpark value. I frankly think it's a $500 car at most. I could post a pic later, but picture a car with the rockers rusted out, no floors, clear coat peeling, driver's seat shot, the usual plastic interior bits broken or missing.

Any guesses?

Probably around 3k. T56 is worth 1500, hood is worth at least 500 and wheels and spoiler are worth 500 easy.

Thanks. He has a spare T56 to go with it. He had some trouble with it when it was a couple of years old and somehow wound up with 2 good ones.

It's valuable as parts. As a whole car you'll get a few hundred from someone looking for parts.

Probably worth $2,500. Too bad he doesn't want to keep it and restore it after all those years of use.

He looked into having the bodywork done but it’s just too far gone. The head gasket was the last straw. It was a great car. He loved it and kept it on the road a lot longer than he should have. It really wasn’t safe to drive anymore.

Definitely would love to see a few pictures of this real life road warrior 99 SS Camaro. Sounds like your dad's SS was an excellent car for 20+ years

The SS hood and SS Spoiler are easily worth $750 to $1,000 as parts. T56 $1,200 to $1,800. A good 10 bolt rear end with 3.42's can bring $300 to $500 plus the Aluminum driveshaft is worth at least $100 so $2500 to $3,000 in just those parts plus everything else

Damn, even had white leather!!! I know fixing it is more than its worth at this point in time, but that car has a real connection to him. I hate seeing an old M6 SS die, but it sounds like that's probably where its headed..

Yes - that's what he liked about it - the red with white leather. It was beautiful when new. It just didn't hold up well over time. I feel bad for him - he loves that car but it's just too far gone.

But he recently retired and still has 3 Vettes to drive when the weather is nice. For daily driving he got that old Taurus in the pics.
