Default Need some 2nd/3rd/4th/etc opinions...

So I'm debating whether to go with slicks or drag radials....

These are my options...

Option 1:
*Mickey Thompson ET Drag Slick 28.0'' x 10.5'' - 15'' - M5 Compound
*Sport Drag Wheel - Diameter & Width: 15 x 10'' - 5-4.75'' bolt circle - 4.5'' backspacing

Option 2:
*Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radial Tire 305/45R18

Option 1 is going to run me about $535
Option 2 is going to run me about $475

What would be the best application for me at this time? Bring on the constructive criticism!

Is your car an auto or a 6 speed? I ask because the 18s can hook your car if you have the proper suspension mods if you are an auto. A manual will be much harder too hook up and with the MTs and will chance breaking the 10 bolt.

Your rear end is narrowed then Im guessing since your mentioning a 4.5" backspace wheel? Also, what RPM do you shift your car at, and what rear end gear ratio are you running? The two tires you mentioned are completely different. The slicks are 28" tall which is a bit on the big side if you have stock gears unless your turning 7000+ RPM or spraying.

Also, your not going to hook on a 18" tire, especially a Nitto tire, if your making any sort of power at all. There is just not enough sidewall with an 18" rim, even in a 28" diameter.

Well... If I were to get the slicks I would be getting the 15" wheels. As opposed to just throwing Nittos on my 18" wheels. Basically the entire car is stock, if that answers your questions.

Alright well in that case, dont go with a 28" tire, your car will not go through the traps where it should, thus leaving alot on the table. It comes down to what you want to do with the car. If its your DD obviously your not going to want to run around on slicks. If you get 15" wheels your going to need a 15x10 wheel with a 7.5 backspace, not 4.5 like you have listed.

If you want to keep the 18s go with a 305/35/18 M/T or Nitto.

If you want 15s with slicks, go with a 26x10-15 ET Drag.

get a stock set of rear wheels, and a decent drag radial (M/T or BFG) and have fun, judging by your sig you dont need a slick and nittos ecspecially in an 18 wont hook period.

The slicks would be for track purposes only, with the winter season coming up and my new job (less hours + more pay = more time/money for fun), ill be hitting up the track a few times a month. I just want to know what would be the best application at this time. Meaning, would it even be worth it to throw on slicks on a stock z28 or should I wait until I have the necessary power output to need slicks, and stick with radials until then?

Its hard to say...does the car spin at the track now? When my car was Exhaust and Lid only, it would spin alot on the street, but the dragstrip was prepped enough to where the car would leave without spinning at all, even on junk 245 fuzion ZRI's. On my stock street tires with just the lid and exhaust my car went 13.28 @ 107

Well... lol... Last time I went to the track, it was 94 degrees with ~18% humidity... Horrible. Not to mention my rear tires have uneven tread wear, when I launch on the street, my rear slides to the left... So new street tires are needed as well. At the track i got a good 1-2 second spin session at the line, embarrassing.

I was checking out these though... Let me know what you think...

On these...

How would this affect my ride height by the way? Having 17's in the front and 15's in the back.
