Yes,because the front slides just like the back just not as much and it's not worth wrecking the car for a couple of dollars.

You gotta stop the car and turn it, correct? The front tires, if I'm not mistaken, play a large role in one and the entire role in the other...

^^^^ not if you stop with the parking brake and steer with the throttle. LOL. If I was going to get snow tires I would go ahead and get all 4. maybe you can make it on just two depending on how severe your winters are.

you are going to see massive understeer in snowy conditions if you take a turn slightly too fast, and at that point you are going to be at the mercy of physics wishing you had bought snow tires for the front

Reread my post above, and try to understand what I'm telling you. The front tires are responsible for a lot of the braking and all of the steering...if you have no traction, you won't do either well.

I HAVE driven my car through winter on both summer and winter tires. Get all 4 winter tires.

100% TRUE !!

Take it from someone who has 40 years of winter driving experience...either 4 snow tires or 4 wheel drive!

Get all 4. Not only do they help with traction to get going, but they help with stopping and turning better as well. I just picked up some Blizzaks this year and they are great!

yea thats the other optional size, but isnt the 55 thinner allowing it to cut through the snow a little better? Im sure the difference is extremely minimal.

Your front tires are as important or more important. Would you like to be able to go somewhere or would you like to be able to steer?

whitdog, the first number is the tire width. 215/xx/xx tires are 215mm wide. The second number is the aspect ratio - the sidewall height expressed relative to the tire width. The total tire height is (Rim Size) + 2 * (Tire Width) * (Aspect Ratio / 100).
