Default Is it REALLY time for 17x11s?

I'm gonna be picking up some new tires and wheels for the warm weather probably sometime this month. I am having trouble deciding on going with a 17x11 for the rear meats, or staying with a 9.5. Right now the car has minor bolt ons (not even headers yet), but of course that will change with my next Jihad, probably starting around the end of the year. I like the idea of being able to rotate my tires even if it is just front to rear, but wonder if I'm screwin myself in the long run by going with a 9.5 wheel. Thanks in advance.

No your not screwing yorself by not going 17x11. Traction is not going to be that big of a difference with 1.5 of an inch. Type/brand of tire makes more of a difference than the size of the tire. IMO 17x11 just dont look good. Im in the lower half of the group on that one though.

Actually, you're probably in the 0.948% group of people who don't like big boy tires!

They fit on my car pretty good? And actually line up with the fender instead of being sunk in like little girly 9.5s

Like I said im in the few that dont like them on our cars. They fit the c6 Zo6...I have not seen maybe a handful of camaros they fit on and dont stick out....and the width of the rim has nothing to do with if its "sunk in" or "sticks out" thats all in the offset as you know....I just happen to like my 9.5 lol

Um... your wrong.

Rear 17x9 wheels with a 50mm offset will be 'sunken in' 2 more inches then 17x11 wheels. I dont know why anyone would like 17x9 or 17x9.5 wheels over 17x11 wheels. And I've never had any 17x11 wheels that "stick out". Do my wheels stick out? They are FLUSH with the fender.

^^^ I think thats about right on offset myself. There arn't too many 17x11s I have seen that look like they fit right. IMO if the tire looks like it wont tuck inside the wheelwell, then it looks kinda goofy.

Those 9.5" wide wheels would fill out the wheelwell a lot better with a +42 +38 offset.

315s look really good on the back, but they're not going to magically make your car faster or handle better!
If you got them, be happy!
If not, don't worry about it!

It looks goofy? LMAO. If the wheel 'sticks out', Then it looks "goofy". But if its tucked or flush, it looks MF killer. I've owned so many different wheels. And my favorite rear sizes are BY FAR 10.5-11 inch wide wheels.

Do my wheels stick out?

Correction,
A 17 x 9 +50 offset wheel will sit in 1"further than a 17 x 11 +50 offset wheel.

IMO,
Your car does look Damn good, with those 315 on the back!

You're right, not sure what I was thinking .

Either way, the width along with the offset determines if the wheel is sunken in or not. Not just the offset like the guy I quoted was saying.

My bad on the offset comment, i was mistaken Do you have a Camaro like I mentioned? I never said anything about them on a t/a which you and the op have (just looked at what car he had). Its all a matter of opinion. It seems everybody gets all pissy when one person doesnt like something. I have always liked your car from when you had the smoothie 2's on it so yeah your car does look good as always. I just dont happen to like 11's in the rear of a camaro...is it the end of the world that I dont like them?

These look good to me with the right offset ...

These are 17x9 Fikse on Xsta Z 28 Berger

No, its not the end of the world if you dont like 17x11s. Im just trying to understand you're "reasoning". You say they stick out, but I just dont see it. And I've owned 17x11 wheels on a few of my old lt1 camaros, and never had any sticking out issues.
