Default Use wheel locks or not?

I'm rolling on about $1600 worth of wheels and tired now. I got some expensive chrome Z06's and BFG's and where I live and a good neighboor hood and all, I still use my car as a DD in the summer so I park in some shady places sometimes. Do you think I should get Gorilla Lug nut locks one on each wheel? I've heard locks don't really make a difference anymore since wheel thieves have a tool that gets them off. They're pretty ugly too, 4 nice chrome lugs and a chrome odd shaped locker? So, do you use locks, and should I?

i think they are dumb. I have a hard time finding or having things when needed. And the key for the locks are in top 20. Just saying do not lose it. And the odds for losing it might be greater than some one steeling your wheels. Just my opinion

Use them.

My wife took our 02 explorer ltd out the other day. She calls me stopped on the side of the highway telling me the steering wheel is shaking bad. I tell her to get out and check out the front of the vehicle for damage/obstructions...ect...ect. Well the only thing holding the front passenger side wheel on was the wheel lock lug.
Some dickless **** loosened up the other four. It broke 2 studs off and sawed through the other 2 and the one with the wheel lock was still holding strong.

BTW...the explorer had not been serviced at all in months, and the night before I drove it about 60 miles with zero wheel shake. The locking lug very damn well could of saved my wife and sons life. Let me find out who did that ****, lowlifes.

+1. I have Gorilla locking lugs on my car now and they look good and are at least a mild deterrent.

I spent over $4000 on my wheels and tires, so any little peace of mind helps.

Eh, I guess I'll get Gorilla lockers. Even though they're ugly... Where could I get them other than my local auto parts store? They mysteriously don't have 12 x 1.5mm thread.

^ That's funny! I would have thought the same, my car is so low it's a beotch to get under but guess what, they did! I had gorilla lug locks (all five studs) and they got them all off without leaving a mark on them. The story has a happy ending cause I found my rims and got them back along with the lock they put on them (Mcgard). Now they're back on my car with both sets of locks.

All locks do is give people who want your rims a way to bust up your car. If a pro wants to steal your ****, they will. No need to give them the chance to mess up your axles and spindles.

I have the Gorilla Guard locks, which I got from Tomzwheels. They actually don't look too bad, it just looks like a regular lug with a chrome ring around it so I don't mind. I highly recommend Gorilla Guard locks to be specific, it has a spinning collar around it which means they can't grab it with a pair of pliers or something and spin it.

Lets not forget the peace of mind which is priceless IMO.

9/16ths and a hammer..

no wheel lock works. plus they sell those "wheel lock removal sets" which can be bought anywhere. like NJSPDER said, if they want your wheels bad enough, they are gonna get them, and less of a reason to beat up the rest of your car trying to get them

Trust me if they want your wheels, your car is gone. And since you need to keep your key in the car in case of a flat, they're useless. But I use them to make the basterds work that much harder!

Damn dude, that's a close call. Good thing she stopped when she did.
